The contractor is expected to begin burning this evening at dark, and the operation is expected to continue for approximately two days.

Residents in the area may notice smoke, particularly during the evening, overnight, and early morning hours. This is a permitted burn that has been approved by the Wi******er Fire Department and will be monitored to help ensure it is conducted safely and in accordance with permit conditions.

Over the past two weeks, the Wi******er Fire Department completed three Smoke Alarm Blitzes as part of our Community Risk Reduction (CRR) initiative.

Thanks to the support of our community and the hard work of our firefighters, so far this year we have installed:

🚨 331 smoke alarms

🏠 In 118 homes

A working smoke alarm can provide the early warning your family needs to escape safely during a fire.

Need your smoke alarms checked? If you live within the City of Wi******er, give us a call at 859-744-1587. We'll gladly check your existing smoke alarms or install new ones if needed—FREE of charge.

Thank you to everyone who welcomed our firefighters into your homes and helped make this initiative a success. Together, we're making Wi******er a safer place to live, one home at a time.

🚨 Smoke Alarm Blitz Continues This Monday! 🚨

The Wi******er Fire Department is continuing our Community Risk Reduction (CRR) initiative with another Smoke Alarm Blitz this Monday beginning at 10:00 AM in the Quick Shop neighborhood.

Thanks to the support of our community during our first two Smoke Alarm Blitzes, we’ve already installed 124 smoke alarms—and we’re just getting started!

Firefighters will be going door-to-door offering FREE smoke alarm checks, installations, and battery replacements for residents who need them.

Working smoke alarms provide the early warning that can save lives. If you live in the Quick Shop neighborhood, we hope you’ll take advantage of this free service while our crews are in the area.
