A. B. C. D. E.

We hope to educate, inspire and move towards positive change that benefits our urban environment and the Earth. The Easton Environmental Advisory Council meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6 pm, on the 3rd Floor of City Hall in City Council chambers or in the Mayor's Conference Room. Identify environmental issues, research solutions, and make recommendations to Easton City Council and City of Easton departments and administration. Recommend plans and programs to the appropriate agencies for the promotion and conservation of the City’s natural resources and for the protection and improvement of the quality of the environment within the City of Easton and its territorial limits. Make recommendations as to the possible use of open land areas and/or environmentally sensitive lands within the City of Easton and its territorial limits, including providing testimony to same when deemed necessary. Promote community environmental programs and educate the public regarding the urban forest by planning and promoting city-wide cleanup activities, Arbor Day; by maintaining the City’s status as a Tree City, USA; recycling programs and recyclable materials, and other events and/or programs. Provide input for all open areas, publicly or privately owned, including, but not limited to, flood-prone areas, swamps, wetlands, and other unique natural areas.

MONARCH BUTTERFLIES: AN UP-CLOSE LOOK

Storytelling • Nature Photography • Live Monarch Experience

Discover the amazing world of Monarch butterflies and follow their journey from egg to caterpillar, chrysalis, adult butterfly, and finally release.

Each fall, Monarch butterflies migrate through our area on an incredible journey of 1,200 to 3,000 miles. They are beautiful, important to our ecosystem, and facing serious threats — and you may even find them in your own backyard!

Join local Monarch rearer and nature photographer Lynne Allen, who has spent the last several years raising Monarchs from eggs through release. Lynne will share photographs, storyboards, and her firsthand experiences. If the timing is right, guests may even get an up-close look at a real Monarch chrysalis!

Lynne Namath, a local naturalist, Monarch enthusiast, and member of the Palmer Township Environmental Steering Committee, will also share information about these fascinating insects, the challenges they face, what they need to survive, and their important role in our ecosystem.

This is an informal, interactive program designed for both children and adults — a perfect after-school, before-dinner activity!

Come learn about the Monarchs passing through our community and discover simple ways we can help them along their journey.

Thanks to our 6 intrepid volunteers who showed up to help collect 6+ bags of trash from along the river front, bike path, Scott Park, Riverside Park, and Washington Street hill this morning! Some of our helpers pictured here.

We want to apologize to those who were unaware of the cancellation of our Scott Park cleanup. We are working to improve our communication. A thank you to the Easton Ambassadors and the Easton Farmers' Market for their support this morning, and we appreciate them bringing this to our attention.
