Even when instructional materials claim to support English Learners, few provide EL-specific supports—even comprehensive programs.
Many materials include general strategies, but stop short of adapting instruction to students’ levels of English proficiency.
💡 What to look for: Instructional materials that adjust language demands by proficiency level, such as flexible text complexity or scaffolded academic vocabulary supports aligned to proficiency levels.
