🍊 Orange County is celebrating 200 years of progress! — DYK, Fort Christmas was one of 200 forts established across Florida during the Second Seminole War? Built by troops under the leadership of Brigadier General Abraham Eustis on Christmas Day in 1837, the fort was ultimately abandoned by the end of the war in 1842. While the original structure no longer exists, Orange County and the Fort Christmas Historical Society constructed an honorary replica about one mile south of the original location in the late 1970s.

🔎 Explore this rich history by visiting the Orange County Regional History Center! Enjoy free admission on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 12 to 5 p.m., open to residents and holiday visitors alike.

đź“· Be part of the celebration by helping us tell Orange County's story. Submit your favorite photos of historic landmarks, cherished family moments, or snapshots of daily life from the past at ocfl.net/200.

Orange County, Florida, has been governed by the Charter since 1987.
