Friday night, we conducted a DUI checkpoint in the area of Campus Avenue and 15th Street.

A total of 909 vehicles came through, resulting in:

1 DUI arrest.
13 Misdemeanor citations.
6 Citations for infractions.

A big thanks to San Bernardino County Probation Department and Rialto Police Department who assisted with the checkpoint.

Funding was provided through California OTS

Walking across someone’s lawn may ruffle the owner’s feathers. Driving across someone’s lawn is an Arlen Felony.

The driver here not only wrecked two parked cars and someone’s grass, but was high on methamphetamine and had an abundance of it with him. He was booked on a number of charges, including DUI, hit and run, possession for sales, and trying to destroy evidence.

🚸 Slow down in school zones — Watch for students crossing and follow posted speed limits.

📵 Put the phone down — Distracted driving can have serious consequences.

🚌 Watch for buses — Stop when required and give buses plenty of space.

🚶‍♀️Stay alert around crosswalks — Students may not always see approaching vehicles.

🚲 Buckle up & gear up — Wear your seatbelt during every car ride and wear a helmet when bike riding.

🏫 Follow school rules — They’re there to help keep everyone safe.

Yesterday afternoon, officers responded to a plane crash at Cable Airport. Officers learned the pilot experienced mechanical failure and collided with a hanger while trying to bring the aircraft down. Fortunately, the pilot, who was by himself, only suffered minor injuries and was able to walk away.

Starting today through Labor Day, additional officers are hitting the streets to look for impaired drivers so we can help keep our roads safe.

This enforcement is part of the National Summer DUI Mobilization Campaign, in partnership with California OTS.
