The Upland Public Library provides services to help community residents obtain information meeting their personal, educational, and recreational needs. The department places special emphasis on reference services and on stimulating young children's interest and appreciation for reading and learning. 📚 Camp Book Club 📚 Calling all tweens! The Library has a new book club for ages 9-12.

On September 4th, 2026, Camp Book Club will begin and continue on every 1st Friday of the month. Our first book is IMPOSSIBLE CREATURES by Katherine Rundell. A limited number of copies are available to check out at the circulation desk.

Each month we will be reading a new book and coming together to discuss the story.

Join us for book games, fun times, and to find a new favorite book!

In anticipation of the Homecoming season, starting September 1 we are accepting donations of new or gently used Homecoming attire (dresses, suits, etc.). A free Homecoming Pop-Up Shop will be held in October to provide free attire to teens.

🖊 Writing is a lonely endeavor. Let's do it together!

Storytellers Writers' Club is every 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 5:30pm.

Get feedback on your writing in a fun, supportive environment! The Library will provide a space to get your creativity flowing.

Each meeting will start with a short writing prompt exercise, followed by independent writing. The last 30 minutes are writers invited to share up to five pages of their work for feedback from the group.

The Book-ish Fair is an adult-only event celebrating our literary love. There will be 20+ vendors selling books, comics, bookish items, accessories, stationery, and more.

Food vendors will join us inside and outside the Library. Get yourself a sweet or savory treat!

🎨 Local Author: Art History Lecture & Book Signing 📚

Join us Saturday, August 22 at 3pm to learn about the achievements of a remarkable group of architects, painters, sculptors and ceramicists centered in Claremont and their impact on the national level.



Dr. Wendy Slatkin is the author of the first comprehensive history of art in this region: Art and Community in California’s Pomona Valley: 1930-1980 (CCMA, 2026). Previously Dr. Slatkin authored a companion book, Portrait of a Community: Selections from the Chaffey Community Museum of Art (CCMA and Inlandia Institute, 2021).

Dr. Slatkin was awarded her Ph.D. in art history from the University of Pennsylvania. She has over 30 years of teaching experience at the college level. She is an emeritus faculty member of Cal Poly, Pomona. She has expertise in all time periods of western art history, from antiquity to the modern age, with a special interest in women artists. Prof. Slatkin has published a number of scholarly articles in peer reviewed publications, and is the author of Women Artists in History (Cognella, 6th edition, 2026) and In Her Own Words (Cognella, 2nd edition, 2019.)
