In 1979 a few members of the Upper Darby Township Police Department met for the purpose of supplying benefits to past, present, and future members of the police department. These members wanted to supply benefits for life, sick, accidental and hardship to members in times of need. These officers incorporated the Upper Darby Police Relief Association on October 3, 1979. To this day the relief assoc

iation provides benefits for retired, present, and future officers as well as the families of these officers. The Upper Darby Police Relief Association is a tax exempt organization under Section 501 (c) (9) or 501 (c) (8) of the Internal Revenue Code.
