Hello, I’m Upper Darby Mayor Ed Brown and I wanted to address another senseless tragedy in our Township.
On Thursday, a student at Beverly Hills Middle School passed away from an accidental gunshot wound in her home where she and other juveniles allegedly had access to a gun.
It is understood that this should never happen. As a result, another young life has been snuffed out.
My prayers and heartfelt thoughts go out to this young lady, her family, friends, teachers, and anyone who knew her.
Upper Darby School District will have student services available at Beverly Hills Middle School today for any child seeking help.
This is an ongoing investigation by our Police Department so more will be communicated to the public as more details are learned.
I pledged support from my office for this family now and moving forward as they navigate this very difficult time.
Parents, guardians, and adults, please secure your weapons and keep them out of the reach of children. These kinds of tragedies are avoidable and deeply affect all of us.

Hola, soy el alcalde de Upper Darby, Ed Brown, y quería referirme a otra tragedia sin sentido en nuestro municipio.
El jueves, una estudiante de la escuela secundaria Beverly Hills falleció a causa de una herida de bala accidental en su casa, donde supuestamente ella y otros menores tenían acceso a un arma.
Entendemos que esto jamás debería ocurrir. Como resultado, otra vida joven se ha perdido.
Mis oraciones y más sinceras condolencias están con esta joven, su familia, amigos, maestros y todos los que la conocieron.

Bonjour, je suis le maire d'Upper Darby, Ed Brown, et je tiens à évoquer une nouvelle tragédie insensée survenue dans notre commune.
Jeudi dernier, une élève du collège Beverly Hills est décédée des suites d'une blessure par b***e accidentelle à son domicile, où elle et d'autres jeunes auraient eu accès à une arme à feu.
Il est inadmissible qu'un tel drame se produise. Une autre jeune vie a été fauchée.
Mes pensées et mes prières accompagnent cette jeune fille, sa famille, ses amis, ses professeurs et tous ceux qui la connaissaient.
Le district scolaire d'Upper Darby mettra en place un service de soutien aux élèves au collège Beverly Hills pour tout enfant qui en aurait besoin.
Une enquête est en cours, menée par notre service de police. D'autres informations seront communiquées au public dès que possible.
J'assure la famille de ce deuil et je lui assure de tout mon soutien pour l'avenir.
