It is with extreme sadness, heavy hearts, and profound heartbreak that the Wyandot County Sheriff's Office announces the sudden and unexpected passing of K9 Christo.
K9 Christo was far more than a law enforcement tool; he was a guardian of the county, a fierce protector of our deputies, notably Sergeant Yoder, and a beloved member of our agency family. He dedicated eight honorable years of his life to holding the line, faithfully protecting the Wyandot County community for three years, bringing his invaluable talents and skills.
As a dual-purpose canine, K9 Christo approached every single shift with an unmatched drive and an unwavering work ethic. Across more than 1,000 career deployments, he stood as a defender against evil. Whether he was taking illicit drugs off our streets, locating critical evidence, protecting Sergent Yoder, or tracking suspects through the darkest nights, K9 Christo served proudly. He did it all for a simple praise, a favorite toy, and the love of Sergeant Yoder.
Upon K9 Christo’s retirement, he transitioned seamlessly from a protector to a cherished family member, spending his final months enjoying the simple luxuries of soft beds, open yards, and the unconditional love of Sergeant Yoder’s family. For Sergeant Yoder, K9 Christo was a once-in-a-career partner. Their bond was unbreakable and mutual trust that words cannot fully capture. K9 Christo was Sergeant Yoder’s shadow, his backup, and his loyal friend.
He will also be deeply missed by his furry, four-legged partner, K9 Bristol, who shared the training fields and worked alongside him weekly. Though his heart has fallen silent, the echoes of his paws will forever ring through the walls of our office and the communities he kept safe. K9 Christo served with honor, protected with courage, and loved with a loyalty that knows no end.
Rest easy, K9 Christo. Your watch is ended. We have the line from here.
