Last week a few of our office members got to participate in the 2026 Wyandot County Sandusky River Tour put together by the Sandusky River Watershed Coalition (SRWC). We learned about the various Sandusky River aquatic life from ODNR staff, toured the Upper Sandusky Water Reclamation Center’s state-of-the-art water treatment facility, and heard from our very own Jeff Hohman as he discussed a Wyandot County wetland restoration project and its positive impact on our community! Thank you to all who attended, we enjoy getting to collaborate and learn from these events! 💧

Thank you Wyandot Chamber of Commerce for the invitation to present at Session 8 of Leadership Wyandot! Our team was very impressed with the questions that were posed and the discussion amongst the group. We love engaging with our entire community and sharing about agriculture and conservation! We look forward to more collaboration opportunities with the Chamber and other entities; because after all, any day you get to talk about agriculture and conservation is a good day! 🌱💧

Thank you to all who attended the 78th Annual Wyandot SWCD Banquet on Tuesday; we had over 130 producers and landowners in attendance! We shared fellowship with friends and family, enjoyed a delicious meal from Center Street Meat Co., recognized our 2026 conservation award recipients, listened to Bill Clinger’s presentation about the Gottfried Nature Center, distributed door prizes from area businesses and vendors, and more! Congratulations to Rod Nuveman, Brad Weaver, and Ryan Wentling on being selected as this year’s award recipients! Thank you to Trinity Evangelical Church for serving as the banquet host and to all our elected officials for your ongoing support! We’ll see you next year! 💧🌱

We’re back with another employee feature! To know her is to love her; many call her Katie, but we call her Superwoman! From working with H2Ohio producers to perfecting the financials and everything in between, Katie keeps things running smoothly at Wyandot SWCD! When not at work, Katie enjoys farming and raising steers with her family, spending time with friends, and going on walks! 💧💧

Wow! What a FANTASTIC event! We were fortunate enough to have beautiful weather last night (with a couple of raindrops) and 43 producers in attendance for our pasture walk and animal husbandry event! We’d like to thank Joe and DeAnn Funkhouser (Funkhouser Family Farm) for hosting us and sharing about their operation! Thank you to our speakers, Bob Hendershot and Jarrod Hittle from the Ohio Department of Agriculture and Dr. John Yost, Ph.D., The Ohio State University-CFAES Wooster for making the drive and teaching about forage identification, drought and flood pasture management, animal handling, and more! We’d once again like to recognize our event sponsors: Wyandot County Cattlemen’s Association, Shane Coppler (Fort Royal Farms, Carey, OH), Hurdwell Meats, and Ag Credit! Stay tuned for more conservation events coming to Wyandot County! 💧

Earlier this week, some of our team was out of the office! Katie and Hannah along with Wyandot SWCD Board Members Ryan, Brian, Kevin, and Andy attended the OFSWCD Summer Supervisor School in Newark, Ohio. This event, organized by the Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts, fosters professional development through conservation experiences and collaboration among other SWCD’s, ODA, and USDA-NRCS. We had the opportunity to hear about conservation programs happening in Licking County, tour a livestock and agrotourism farm, take a tour of The Wilds and hear about their grazing/conservation efforts, learn about the Kokosing River and the aquatic life within it, and so much more! 💧🌱
