The "Star-Miller Children's Library" is a collaborative effort of the families of SPC Lucas "Star" Starcevich and SPC Seth Allen Miller. Army, and both died while serving during the War on Terror. Their families have sought to find ways to keep their passionate spirit and memories alive through involvement with several non-profit organizations, including the Chez Family Foundation Center for Wound
ed Veterans. This center, offering support, and services for Veterans and their families carries the enduring mission of taking these heroes from casualties to conquerors. This message resonated with the families of "Star" and "Miller" as they too have become conquerors over the wages of war. Both Star and Miller were avid readers from childhood and throughout their lives. Neither of their lives was straightforward and easy, and it was during those times of most intense uncertainty that they turned to the world of books for comfort. Star enjoyed mystery and science fiction while Miller enjoyed fictional fantasy and philosophy. While touring the center this year, their Mothers noted that there wasn't a Children's Library in the Chez Center for the kids who attend support services with their parents. It was after that when they knew just how to memorialize their two soldiers at this beautiful and amazing center. Through this library dedicated to Star and Miller, many more children will receive the comfort and encouragement that only the world of reading can provide. Your generous donation of books, educational toys or finances will help the families of Seth and Lucas to build a strong foundation which will assist these youngsters to be conquerors. For monetary donations please make check payable to "University Illinois Foundation" with a memo line for Center for Wounded Veterans Children’s Library.
