🚨 IMPORTANT SNAP CHANGES — PLEASE READ & SHARE! 🚨

We want to make sure our Blessing Barn families and community members are aware of recent SNAP changes that could impact benefits. 💚

Changes may include:
📌 Expanded work requirements for some adults
📌 Updates to SNAP eligibility
📌 Changes involving utility expenses and deductions
📌 New requirements for certain individuals to document work, training, or volunteer hours

⚠️ Important: Some individuals may qualify for an exemption from the work requirements, including people with certain physical or mental disabilities and others who meet exemption criteria. If you aren’t sure whether an exemption applies to you, please contact your caseworker.

📬 If you receive SNAP, please don’t ignore letters or notices from Job and Family Services. Take time to review anything you receive so you don’t accidentally lose or reduce your benefits because information or verification was needed.

🤝 Need help understanding the changes or applying for SNAP?

🚨 IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR SNAP RECIPIENTS! 🚨

With recent storms and power outages, we want to make sure our community knows about an important resource that may help families who have lost food. ❤️

🥫 Did you lose food because of a power outage, fire, flood, or another unexpected event?

If you receive SNAP benefits, you may be able to request replacement SNAP benefits for eligible food purchased with SNAP that was lost.

⚠️ DON’T WAIT!
You generally have 10 days from the date of the food loss to report the loss and request replacement benefits.

📝 You will need to complete Ohio JFS Form 07222 — Statement Requesting Food Assistance Replacement Benefits and submit it to your local County Job & Family Services office.

If you experienced a power outage, please remember these important food-safety guidelines:

🧊 Refrigerator: Food can generally remain safe for about 4 hours without power if the door stays closed.

❄️ Full freezer: Food may remain safe for approximately 48 hours if the door remains closed.

❄️ Half-full freezer: Food may remain safe for approximately 24 hours.

🚫 When in doubt, throw it out! Never taste food to determine whether it is safe.

📸 If possible, document your food loss and the circumstances surrounding the outage or emergency, as you may be asked to provide verification.

❤️ PLEASE SHARE THIS POST!

There may be someone on your friends list who just lost an entire refrigerator or freezer full of groceries and has no idea that replacement SNAP benefits may be available.

Food is expensive, and losing a refrigerator full of groceries can be devastating for a family. Let’s help make sure this information reaches the people who need it.

👇 We have included the SNAP replacement form, county contact information, and food-safety information with this post. Please look through the attached pictures for additional details.

🚨🚨 HELP! OUR BLESSING BARNS ARE OUT! 🚨🚨

Friends, we need your help! ❤️

At this time, we have NONE of the following items available to put in the Blessing Barns:

🥣 CEREAL — NONE
🥛 DRIED/POWDERED MILK — NONE
🧀 MAC & CHEESE — NONE

Our shelves are empty of these items, and they are some of the foods that families reach for the most.

Think about how important these simple things can be. Cereal and milk can mean breakfast before school, and a box of mac & cheese can mean dinner on the table when there isn’t much else in the house.

❤️ We need our community right now.

If you’re heading to the grocery store, could you grab just one extra item for the Blessing Barns?

One box of cereal.
One package of dried milk.
One box or cup of mac & cheese.

It doesn’t have to be a huge donation. When a whole community gives a little, we can do A LOT.

🙏 Please donate if you’re able.
🙏 Please share this post.
🙏 Please help us get these barns filled again!

Our Blessing Barns are here so that when someone in our community needs a little help, there is food waiting for them — no questions asked.

Right now, we need YOUR help to make sure there is something there to give. ❤️

🥣🥛🧀 CEREAL • DRIED MILK • MAC & CHEESE

WE CURRENTLY HAVE NONE. LET’S CHANGE THAT! 💪❤️

💙🌾 The Blessing Barns Wouldn’t Be Possible Without Our Amazing Village! 🌾💙

Did you know that THREE incredible DayHab programs help keep our Blessing Barns stocked throughout the week? 🥹❤️

Every week, these amazing clients roll up their sleeves, work hard, and make sure our neighbors have access to food and essential items when they need them most. They don’t do it for recognition—they do it because they care. Their kindness, dedication, and hearts for serving our community inspire us every single day.

A HUGE THANK YOU to our wonderful partners:
🌿 Downsize Farm
🐾 CCAWL Day Services
💙 CRSI DayHab

Your clients and staff are making a real difference in Champaign County, and we couldn’t do this without you!

We also want to give a very special shout-out to two incredible women who have stood beside us for so long:
🌸 Councilwoman Amy Jumper
🌸 Our dear friend, Tami LeMasters-Purinton

These ladies have faithfully volunteered their time, energy, and hearts to help keep the Blessing Barns filled. Their dedication to our community never goes unnoticed, and we are so grateful for everything they do.

And to our amazing friends at Urbana Naz… THANK YOU! ❤️ Every time we put out a call for help, your church family steps up without hesitation. Whether it’s food, supplies, or volunteers, you continually show what it means to love and serve your community. Your generosity has blessed countless families.

💛 The next time you see our DayHab clients, Amy, Tami, or any of our volunteers out filling the Blessing Barns, please take a moment to tell them THANK YOU! A few kind words can mean the world to someone who is giving their time to help others.

This is what community looks like.
This is what kindness looks like.
This is what happens when people come together to make sure no one is forgotten.

Together, we are filling more than barns… we’re filling hearts with hope. 💙🌾🐾

💙 Our Blessing Barns Need Your Help 💙

Over the past week, our amazing volunteers have spent countless hours cleaning, organizing, and making sure our Blessing Barns are safe, welcoming, and stocked for the families who rely on them.

Unfortunately, once again, we arrived to find food that had been tampered with and left unusable.

This is especially heartbreaking because our inventory is already running low. Every item donated is meant to help a neighbor who may be struggling to put food on the table. When donations are damaged or wasted, it affects the families who need them most.

We’re asking our community for two simple things:

❤️ If you see someone misusing or vandalizing one of our Blessing Barns, please speak up or let us know. It takes all of us to protect this resource so it can continue serving those in need.

📚 We’re also kicking off our Back-to-School Supply Drive! While you’re out shopping, please consider picking up a few extra items such as:
✏️ Pencils
📓 Notebooks
🖍️ Crayons or colored pencils
🧴 Clorox wipes
🧻 Paper towels
🥫 Canned food and other nonperishable pantry items

Every donation—whether it’s one notebook or one can of food—makes a difference.

To everyone who has donated, volunteered, or helped care for our Blessing Barns: thank you. Your kindness is what keeps this mission alive. Together, we can make sure these barns continue to be a place of hope for families throughout our community. ❤️
