True or False?

Domestic violence is only physical, mental or emotional.
- False, DV can be physical, sexual, psychological, emotional, verbal, financial, or digital and includes stalking and neglect.

Experiencing DV can impact your long-term mental and physical health.
- True, studies have shown that people who have experienced DV (a form of chronic stress) are at an increased risk for not only mental health impacts such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders, but also at higher risk for gastrointestinal issues, sleep disturbances, headaches, and chronic pain among many more long-term health effects.

Trauma Informed Care💜
What is it and why is it important?
A trauma-informed approach to care seeks to understand the bigger picture of the client's life, asking "what happened to you?" instead of "what's wrong with you?"
Trauma informed care is important because it can help patients feel safer, allowing them to engage more wholly in their health care services. Creating comfortable and trustworthy relationships with a provider also increases the likelihood of better long-term health outcomes.
