🚶🚲 SHARE THE ROAD SAFELY 🚲🚶

As the weather gets nicer, more residents are walking, biking, and using e-scooters throughout our community. The City of Urbana reminds everyone to help keep our streets safe by being aware of others and following traffic laws.

Please remember:

✔️ Use sidewalks where available
✔️ If sidewalks are not available, walk facing traffic when it is safe to do so
✔️ Obey stop signs and traffic control devices
✔️ Ride bicycles and e-scooters as close to the right side of the roadway as practical
✔️ Wear a properly fitted helmet
✔️ Stay alert and avoid distractions
✔️ Drivers should watch for pedestrians, bicyclists, and e-scooter riders and allow extra space when passing

Not all areas of Urbana have sidewalks, making it especially important for everyone to share the road responsibly and courteously.

Working together helps keep Urbana safe for residents of all ages.

If you find a lost dog or cat, please remember that safety comes first.

⚠️ Children should never approach or attempt to catch a lost pet on their own. Even friendly pets can become frightened, stressed, or injured and may bite or scratch when scared.

If you find a lost pet:

✔️ Notify a parent, guardian, or other trusted adult
✔️ If safe to do so, provide the pet with a secure location, food, and water
✔️ Post a clear photo and location in:
• Urbana IA Neighborhood Chat
• Urbana Community Group
✔️ Check for identification tags
✔️ Contact a veterinarian or Cedar Valley Humane Society to check for a microchip
✔️ If the owner cannot be located, contact Cedar Valley Humane Society

Our parks, trails, green spaces, sidewalks, and public areas are shared by everyone. Please help keep Urbana clean, safe, and enjoyable by picking up after your pets.

City ordinances require pet owners to immediately remove and properly dispose of pet waste left by their animals on public or private property.

🐶 Bring waste bags when walking your dog
🗑️ Dispose of pet waste in a proper trash receptacle
🌳 Help keep parks and green spaces clean for families and children
💚 Be a considerate neighbor and community member

A small act of responsibility makes a big difference in keeping Urbana beautiful for everyone.
