For more than 10 years, Two Men And A Truck/Central Illinois has been a valued partner of Feeding Our Kids, helping make sure the food we purchase from Sam’s Club arrives on food packing day.

Their continued support helps us keep our food packs moving and gets weekend food to kids across Champaign County.

We are incredibly thankful for this long-standing partnership and for their team that helps make our mission possible!

Hunger Action Month is all about taking action and Clara is doing just that.

This young volunteer decided to make a difference by raising money for Feeding Our Kids at a concession stand during her brother’s baseball games.

When asked why she wanted to help, Clara said:

“We’re really lucky that we have food, and I want other kids to have food when they get home too.”

Last night, Clara and her family brought her earnings to Feeding Our Kids during our first food pack of the new school year. Her favorite part of the visit was helping pack the bags that will go home with other kids.

Clara, thank you for showing us that you’re never too young to help others!

Feeding Our Kids is getting ready to start our weekend food packing for the new school year, and we’d love to have you join us! We have included answers to a few of the most frequently asked questions below.

Thank you for helping pack weekend food for kids in Champaign County!

Feeding Our Kids provides weekend food to children at partner schools throughout Champaign County.

If you know a child in Pre-K through public middle schools who may need weekend food assistance, please encourage their family to reach out to their school social worker.

Each child receives a bag of shelf-stable food to help provide food and snacks over the weekend.

We’re grateful to our schools and social workers for helping us make sure kids have food for the weekend.

We appreciate our volunteers who came in last month to clean and organize bins. We have one more bin cleaning day on Tuesday August 18th from 3:30-4:30 to finish getting bins ready for the new school year. Come join us!

Feeding Our Kids recently finished our 3rd year as a Charity Running Partner of the Christie Clinic Illinois Race Weekend, and we love this partnership. This week, we were honored to receive an additional donation at the Race Weekend annual banquet.

This generous gift helps us start the school year strong and ensures we can continue providing weekend food to children across Champaign County who need it most.

We are excited to begin our 4th year as Charity Partners! Thank you to everyone involved with Race Weekend.

Great partnerships make a stronger community!

This week we had the opportunity to connect with the Champaign-Ford Regional Office of Education #9 , a valued partner that supports Feeding Our Kids in so many ways throughout the year (Volunteers, community connections, resources). We are also grateful to have Jeri Callaway from ROE serving on our Board of Directors.

We were excited to learn that ROE will also be supporting Clothes for Kids , a new local nonprofit providing clothing to school children in need. Their story feels familiar as it began with Moms at Westview Elementary who saw that kids needed clothes, much like Feeding Our Kids, which was started by Moms from Westview and Robeson who wanted to make sure kids had food on the weekends.

It's inspiring to see our community continue to come together to ensure children have what they need to thrive.

We are thrilled to be a Charity Running Partner of the Christie Clinic Illinois Race Weekend for the 4th year!

Yesterday, Kimberly and Jason Harden stopped by to learn more about Feeding Our Kids and the impact we are making across our community. Kimberly serves as the Volunteer and Charity Partner Coordinator, and Jason is the Associate Race Director. We appreciate all they do to support local organizations and help share our mission with Race Weekend participants.

This past semester, University of Illinois students in Dr. Torres Aguilar’s Food Insecurity class created cooking videos as part of their class project and hands-on learning experience.

Many of the recipes feature items that can be found in a Feeding Our Kids weekend food bag, along with other simple ingredients families may already have at home or can easily find at the store. These easy-to-make meals are not only practical but also a fun way for families to cook together and help children build confidence in the kitchen.

We are excited to continue partnering with this class in the coming year!

We are grateful for the partnerships that make our mission possible.

Earlier this year, Feeding Our Kids had the opportunity to attend the Eastern Illinois Foodbank Agency Conference. It was a wonderful reminder of what can be accomplished when organizations come together with a shared commitment to alleviate food insecurity.

This summer marks two years since we moved our operations into the Foodbank's facility! With this continued support we are able to grow our program and reach more children throughout Champaign County with the weekend food they need. We ended the school year providing food to 1,700 children at 49 schools.

Thank you for the continued partnership and to everyone in the community who works to further our mission.
