The City of Urbana Water Division would like to thank the citizens of Urbana for keeping an eye on their public water supply. Monitoring all points of the system is impossible without your help. Operation of a fire hydrant by anyone besides the Fire Division without the approval of the Water Supervisor is prohibited. We thank you for your keen eye, awareness, and willingness to notify authorities when questionable actions are observed.

The Champaign County Master Gardener Volunteers and the City of Urbana Shade Tree Commission are hosting a Pruning Workshop at Greenwood Arboretum at Oak Dale Cemetery on Sunday, October 11, 2026 from 2:00PM-3:30PM. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn what pruning tools work best, what to look for, and how to trim. This event is free and open to the public.

The new GoBus route from Toledo to Cincinnati that includes Urbana officially started service on March 2, 2026. Urbana is served by GoBus during daytime hours, 7 days per week, with four stops per day (two stops northbound and two stops southbound). The local curb stop location for GoBus is located at the public parking lot at 205 West Court Street in Urbana, and this location was chosen for its walkability and centralized location. In addition to the Ohio communities connected by this route, popular destinations on the Toledo to Cincinnati GoBus route (Red Line) include the University of Toledo, Bowling Green State University, University of Findlay, Miami University, University of Cincinnati, and Cincinnati CVG Airport.

• 500 block of Hagenbuch St., between Railroad St. & Concord St., traffic will be one lane.
• 500 block of N. Jefferson Ave., between Washington Ave. & Maple St., will be closed.
• College Way, between Dewey Ave. & Storms Ave., will be closed.
• 200 block of N. High St., between W. Church St. & W. Court St., will be closed.
• 500 block S. Walnut St., between College St. & Hovey St., will be closed.

WHAT: CarFit is coming to Urbana Champaign County Senior Center to offer area senior drivers a free opportunity to check how their cars “fit” them.

Developed by AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) in partnership, CarFit’s trained professionals
take older drivers through a 12-point checklist with their vehicle, recommending minor adjustments that help make their cars “fit” better for comfort and safety. An occupational therapist is also on hand to provide information to seniors on how to maintain and strengthen driving health.


WHY: By 2030, there will be an estimated 58.9 million people aged 65 and older -that's 1 in 5 people. They're expected to represent 1 in 4 licensed drivers at that time. Personal mobility is critical for healthy aging, but as our bodies change as we age, ill-fitting vehicles can make it uncomfortable and unsafe to drive. Additionally, due to fragility, older drivers have the highest crash death rate per mile of everyone except teenagers. CarFit is a tool that can work to help keep seniors safer behind the wheel.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has started a resurfacing project on US Route 68 South from the south limit of the City of Urbana to a location near Springfield-Urbana Pike where US Route 68 South widens to a four lane highway. As a result of this ODOT project which is not under the control of the City of Urbana, lane restrictions will be in place when crews are working from 7AM to 5PM on this section of US Route 68 South through the fall of 2026. Traffic will be maintained by a flagging operation, and delays may occur as a result. Please plan for additional time if traveling this section of US Route 68 South, including arrival and dismissal at the Urbana PreK-8 school campus, commutes to employers in the area, or if traveling between Urbana and Springfield.
