SEVERE RISK: Good morning, everyone! Here is a look at today's severe weather outlook. As the case has been all week so far, confidence in exact timing, strength, and number of rounds remains unclear. However, there is a high-ceiling for today's event if it unfolds to how some guidance says...but a low confidence in how close to the ceiling we will get.
THREATS: As we have been talking...damaging wind continues to remain the #1 hazard at this point. Some gusts of 60-70+ MPH are possible *IF* a well-organized, potent bowing echo can maintain this afternoon and evening. A brief/weak tornado is possible...but very unlikely. These threats will not change.
TIMING: There will likely be multiple waves of storms today...however, the most impactful storms would most likely be during the second half of the day. Similar to yesterday...you will see storms and dry time. I know some have yet to see much (or any) rain. This is why I never went higher than 1-3"+ for the week. Just the way it goes with these clusters of storms.
DERECHO: This word for some reason is thrown around for hype and fear. I personally do not see that happening today. These do not get confirmed until after the storm happens...and predicting one is nearly impossible in advance around here. So, I remind you to watch who and what you ingest and share. LIMIT your sources to 2-3 places at a maximum. Information overload causes confusion, stress, and more!
More to come later this morning...however the plan of attack is similar to yesterday. Be ready to pivot if warnings are issued. You might be able to go about your day normally at times throughout the day, but be ready to change that if storms approach. - 5:30 AM 8/11/26
