In private, the Democrat candidate for Governor admits he’ll push to reverse Republican judicial reforms — but only after his first term, because Republicans need to ‘take their medicine.’
So much for the ‘unity’ and ‘bipartisanship’ rhetoric on the campaign trail. This is political payback wrapped in nice-sounding slogans. Iowa deserves a Governor who puts Iowans first — not one plotting revenge against the other party.

It is with deep sadness that the Polk County Republican Party mourns the passing of Iowa State Senator Julian Garrett.
Senator Garrett, a dedicated public servant, lifelong Republican, attorney, farmer, and champion for conservative values in Iowa, passed away on June 8, 2026, at the age of 85 following a battle with prostate cancer.
A Warren County resident who served District 11 with integrity and distinction since 2013, Senator Garrett was known for his principled leadership, strong advocacy for limited government, judicial reform, and support for Iowa’s agricultural communities. His decades of service—including prior time in the Iowa House—left a lasting impact on our state and our Party.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Nancy, their three sons, and the entire Garrett family during this difficult time. Senator Garrett’s commitment to faith, family, and freedom exemplified the best of Republican ideals. He will be greatly missed.
Rest in peace, Senator Garrett. Thank you for your service. 🇺🇸

Great day celebrating American values and community spirit at the Grimes Governors’ Days Grand Parade! 🇺🇸
From the Polk County GOP, we were proud to march alongside Rep. Dan Gehlbach and Congressman Zach Nunn, along with our team, friends, and supporters through the streets of Grimes. We waved the flag high and showed our strong commitment to a prosperous Iowa and a brighter future for our families. Thank you to the Grimes Chamber & Economic Development for putting on another fantastic event. Moments like this remind us why we fight for the principles that make our communities thrive: freedom, opportunity, and local pride.

Congrats to Republican nominee Zach Lahn for Governor, US Senate nominee Ashley Hinson, incumbent nominee Zach Nunn for Congress, State Auditor nominee Chris Cournoyer, and all Republican incumbent nominees on their big wins last night!

Here is an official, released statement from Republican Party of Polk County Chairman, Andrew Ventling on Primary Results:

“The primary election process is now complete, and Republican voters have selected our nominees for the November ballot.
Primaries serve an important purpose. They give voters the opportunity to evaluate candidates, discuss ideas, and determine who will represent our party in the general election. That process is now behind us.
The work ahead is larger than any one campaign or any one race. Our responsibility now is to come together, support our nominees, and focus on the issues that matter to our communities and our state.
I want to thank every candidate who stepped forward to serve, every volunteer who invested their time, and every voter who participated in the process. Strong participation strengthens our party and strengthens our communities.
As we move toward November, our focus should be on organization, involvement, and the work required to earn the support of voters across Polk County. There is a place for everyone in that effort.
