Job description:
The Utica Narcan Rescue Team is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our community-based overdose response program in Utica, New York.
Our mission is to save lives by responding rapidly to opioid overdoses, administering naloxone (Narcan), and connecting individuals to recovery resources. This role starts as a volunteer position with a clear pathway to paid employment as the organization grows.
Responsibilities
Respond to suspected overdose situations when alerted
Administer Narcan (naloxone) in emergency situations
Provide basic life-saving support until EMS arrives
Maintain calm and professionalism in high-stress environments
Complete basic incident reports after responses
Participate in ongoing training and team meetings
Qualifications
Must be 18 years or older
Reliable and able to respond when on-call
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Compassionate, non-judgmental attitude
Willingness to complete required training
No prior medical experience required – training is provided.
Training Provided
Narcan (naloxone) administration
CPR / AED certification
Crisis intervention and de-escalation
Scene safety and overdose response
Schedule
Flexible, on-call or shift-based
Day, evening, and weekend availability needed
