Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. announced today that the 16th Annual Oneida County Intergenerational Fall Clean-Up saw 546 youth volunteers service the homes of 100 seniors citizens.

“The Intergenerational Clean-Up is a great example of the kind of community spirit that makes Oneida County special," Picente said. "These young people are stepping up to help our seniors, showing respect for the generations who came before them and making a real difference in their neighbors’ lives. I thank every volunteer, mentor and community partner who helped make this year’s effort such a success.”

Oneida County is continuing its crackdown on the illegal sale of kratom, synthetic cannabinoids and other unregulated substances, with four recent enforcement actions bringing the total to 12 establishments inspected since July.

The ongoing enforcement effort has resulted in the seizure of more than 450 kratom products and more than 7,000 flavored v***r products, in addition to synthetic cannabis products, K2, 7-OH and other items. The County is working with the Sheriff’s Office, local law enforcement and state agencies to identify violations, remove illegal products from circulation and hold businesses accountable.

This week, Oneida County recognizes 2026 Week Without Violence, a YWCA campaign held during Domestic Violence Awareness Month to promote prevention and encourage communities to take a stand against domestic violence.

We commend the YWCA for its continued work supporting survivors, connecting individuals with resources and helping build safer communities. Preventing domestic violence requires a community-wide commitment to ensuring everyone has the opportunity to live free from abuse and fear.

In recognition of this week, the Oneida County Office Building and Oneida County Parking Garage in downtown Utica will be lit purple in support of survivors and efforts to prevent domestic violence.

Together, we can stand with survivors and work toward a safer, stronger community for all.

Happy 80th Birthday to Mohawk Valley Community College!

Nearly 40 Oneida County employees and officials who are MVCC alumni gathered at the County Office Building in Utica to celebrate this milestone with a group photo and birthday cake.

For eight decades, MVCC has played an important role in educating students, preparing the workforce and strengthening our community. The partnership between Oneida County and MVCC continues to create opportunities for residents, support workforce development and help meet the evolving needs of our region.

With so many County employees among its graduates, MVCC’s lasting impact is evident throughout our organization and the communities we serve.

Congratulations to MVCC on 80 years of excellence, and here’s to many more years of partnership and shared success!

In observance of Columbus Day, all Oneida County offices are closed to the public today.

The Oneida County Office Building and Oneida County Parking Garage in downtown Utica are lit up in green, white and red in recognition of Italian-American Heritage Month and the rich cultural heritage and contributions of Italian-Americans to our community.
