Thirty-four years ago, a small group of community members and church leaders came together with one mission, to help people in Utica who had nowhere else to turn. What began in 1992 as a small soup kitchen and daytime shelter on Whitesboro Street became Hope House, a place built on compassion, dignity, and trust. Over the years, Hope House has continued to grow alongside the community, serving more than 1.9 million meals and becoming a safe haven for countless individuals and families in need.
This Memorial Day weekend, that spirit of community was once again on display at Hope House. Guests, volunteers, and staff gathered for a small cookout to share food, conversation, and fellowship while remembering and honoring the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. As Hope House celebrates its 34th anniversary, moments like these continue to show what the organization has always been about, people coming together to care for one another.
