Genesis Group View and Opinion: Do you ever wonder why we live here ? Perhaps you were born here, or maybe it was a job or a relationship that brought you here. There are many reasons why we can be proud to call the Mohawk Valley our home. We are a diverse and welcoming community that is known for many things including quality food, great events, hospitality and so much more!
The Genesis Group reviewed several studies that revealed the Mohawk Valley region has strong ties to education, healthcare, tourism, arts and culture, banking, finance, insurance and agriculture. These industries continue to offer opportunities for growth. We have many small businesses that support local commerce and serve as the backbone of our economy.
Economic programs, policies and activities seek to improve the well-being and quality of life of our community. The most notable form of economic development is identifying ways to incentivize and attract new businesses and jobs. Area business parks host small and large companies employing hundreds of people. Government, community and economic officials work together to support existing companies, and are always looking to welcome new ones.
Area school districts, colleges and universities are magnets for companies looking to locate here. We are fortunate to have a strong pipeline that includes our schools and businesses. We also have excellent workforce and training programs to assist employers and workers.
This message (and theme) could go on and on. There is something here for everyone.
For more than a decade, the region has experienced a positive transformation. We are better off today than we were 5, 10 or even 20 years ago. There may be challenges, but there are more opportunities. We'd like to believe we're living the good life. Remember, this is our home and there are many reasons why we choose to live here!
