• On June 12, 1939, the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum opened in Cooperstown.

• About 10,000 people attended the opening.

• It was also the first induction of baseball players into the Hall of Fame.

• The first players to be inducted were Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, and Cy Young.

• Today there are 354 baseball players that have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Genesis Group View and Opinion: People helping people. We often write about the importance of being community minded and helping others...even if you don't know them.

Earlier this week, there was a serious accident near the Rt 12 and Rt 840 interchange. A rider was thrown from his motorcycle and was injured. Two different people stopped to help. Coincidentally, one was a nurse, the other a fire fighter. Both did not hesitate to stop and help the injured cyclist. Good for them! Their actions should be an example for all of us. We thank them both!

Press Release: Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente is hosting a student summit this morning at the Delta Hotel by Marriott Utica. As part of his "250 Forward" vision, Picente is gathering 10 students from every school district in the county to discuss the challenges they face in their classrooms, hallways, and neighborhoods. The forum aims to create a dedicated Oneida County Youth Wellness Cabinet that will establish mental health and wellness priorities.

Genesis Group View and Opinion: We applaud County Executive Picente for organizing this important initiative. Many times we don't usually hear from students and their point of views. A summit like this offers them an opportunity to be heard. We know students have many distractions (these days) and hope the summit is successful!

Genesis Group View and Opinion: Today's the day for the Annual Ride for Missing Children. More than 150 participants took the streets earlier this morning and are biking 80 miles throughout the region. They're on a mission, and that's to promote awareness and hope in the plight of missing and
exploited children across the country. Special thanks to everyone who's participating, as well as sponsors, volunteers and organizers. This is such a meaningful event.

We can all serve as "Community Ambassadors" by offering information or answering questions from visitors. We also believe this event will positively impact the local economy...including our restaurants, hotels and attractions. It's a great time to promote the entire region.
