💙 Today is International Day of Charity!

Giving back doesn’t always mean writing a check.

It can mean volunteering an afternoon, donating supplies, supporting a local fundraiser, sharing a community resource, or simply showing up when your neighbors need you.

Every day, we get to see what happens when people across the Mohawk Valley come together to help one another — and we’re pretty lucky to be part of a community that continues to show up. 💙

However you choose to give back, thank you for being part of what makes the Mohawk Valley stronger.

🥫 It’s National Food Bank Day, and we’re celebrating one of our incredible community partners — Loaves and Fishes in Herkimer! 💙

Every day, organizations like Loaves and Fishes help make sure our neighbors have access to the food and support they need.

Food insecurity affects individuals and families right here in the Mohawk Valley, and we’re grateful to have partners who continue to show up for their community.

Today, we’re sending a huge THANK YOU to the team at Loaves and Fishes for the work they do and for being such an important resource in Herkimer County.👏🥫💙

🎒 A backpack can carry more than books.

For some local children, weekends can mean uncertainty about where their next meal will come from.

United Way of the Mohawk Valley’s Backpack Program helps bridge that gap by providing food for students to take home when school meals aren’t available.

It’s one piece of our larger work to address food insecurity throughout the Mohawk Valley — because helping families means looking at the whole picture.

This Hunger Action Month, we’re proud to continue working toward a community where every child has the food and support they need to thrive. 💙

Community partnerships at work! 💙

We were so excited to deliver a generous donation of school supplies to Frankfort-Schuyler Central School District, made possible through our partnership with AIS!

These supplies will go directly into the hands of local students and educators, helping make sure they have the tools they need for a successful school year. ✏️📚🎒

A huge thank you to AIS for their generosity and commitment to supporting our local schools. When businesses and community organizations come together, we can make a real difference for students and families right here in the Mohawk Valley.

That’s what it means to LIVE UNITED. 💙

🍎 September is Hunger Action Month.

Hunger doesn’t always look the way you think it does. It can be a family trying to stretch groceries until payday, a senior choosing between food and another expense, or a parent worrying about what their child will eat over the weekend.

Throughout September, we’ll be shining a light on food insecurity in the Mohawk Valley and the resources available to help.

If you or someone you know is struggling to put food on the table, 211 is here 24/7 to connect you with local food pantries, meal programs and other resources.

In honor of National Black Business Month, we’re proud to spotlight Majuma’s Designs, a creative business bringing fashion, culture, and confidence to the Mohawk Valley community. 🖤

Inspired by a love of fashion and creativity, Majuma’s Designs was created to fill a gap Majuma experienced as an African woman—finding clothing that reflected her culture, her people, and the styles she grew up loving. Her vision is to create beautiful, meaningful pieces that help people feel confident, beautiful, and true to themselves, while welcoming everyone who appreciates and loves these styles.
What makes this business even more special is the connection to community. From weddings and Eid celebrations to cultural events and other special occasions, Majuma’s Designs get to be part of moments and memories that people will carry with them for years to come. 💛

When asked what advice she would give aspiring local entrepreneurs, Majuma shared a powerful reminder: start even if you don’t feel completely ready. Be willing to learn, be patient with yourself, and don’t be afraid to take up space. Building a business takes consistency, faith, and plenty of trial and error—but staying true to your vision and remembering why you started can make all the difference.
Join us in celebrating Majuma’s Designs and the creativity, culture, and entrepreneurship they bring to our community! 👏🏾✨

🛏️ 25 Children. 25 Beds. A Better Night’s Sleep. 💙

This weekend, our team had the privilege of partnering with Sleep in Heavenly Peace to deliver beds to 25 local children who had been sleeping on the floor.

Twenty-five children now have a bed to call their own — a safe, comfortable place to sleep, dream, rest and wake up ready for a new day.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who gave their time and energy to make these deliveries happen. There’s something pretty powerful about seeing a community come together, roll up its sleeves and make an immediate difference in the life of a child.

Because every child deserves a bed. 💙🛏️
