This evening I stopped by the King Pin Lanes vendor fair in Rome to check out local food trucks and crafts and to buy a few things for the kids. It was nice to connect with small business owners in Rome, including the crew from King Pin Lanes.

Marianne Buttenschon has looked out for our area as the Chair of the Small Business Committee in the State Assembly. If elected, I’ll ask to be appointed to that same committee so our local small businesses have an advocate to make NYS more small-business friendly.

UTICA, NY - Jon Lipe, candidate for New York’s 119th Assembly District, announced today that he will host a second round of public town hall meetings in September to answer questions and hear from his neighbors in the Mohawk Valley. These meetings will be free and open to the public and will take place in Floyd, East Utica, and Whitestown.

Lipe previously held three August town hall meetings in Rome, South Utica, and Deerfield, where he answered questions from local residents on energy, healthcare, jobs, AI, the second amendment, and more.

“I really enjoyed the town hall meetings we had in August,” Lipe said. “We had Republicans, Democrats, and independents attend, and I got to hear their concerns and give direct answers to their questions. To me, being honest and accessible are the most important parts of the job.”

The next three scheduled town hall meetings are:

Floyd
Sunday, September 13, 1:00pm
Floyd Town Park
7448 Camroden Road

East Utica
Friday, September 18, 6:30pm
MVCC, Alumni College Center
1101 Sherman Drive

Whitestown
Tuesday, September 22, 6:30pm
Whitestown Community Center
1 Championship Way

These meetings are free and open to the public. No pre-registration or RSVP is required. Questions will not be screened and attendees are asked to treat everyone with respect.

“If elected, my bosses will be my 120,000 neighbors who live in the Utica/Rome area,” Lipe said. “That’s why I’ve pledged to host these town hall meetings every year I’m in office. They will help me be a true independent voice for our area, like Marianne Buttenschon and Anthony Brindisi have been.”

Jon Lipe has spent his career in public service, working to build a better future for families in the Mohawk Valley. He has worked for Democrats and Republicans, including Congressmen Sherwood Boehlert, Anthony Brindisi, and John Mannion. If elected to the State Assembly, Lipe will fight to protect healthcare access, lower energy costs, and promote local economic growth. Lipe lives in Whitesboro with his wife and two children.

In addition to the Democratic and Working Families ballot lines, Lipe will appear on the November ballot under the independent Mohawk Valley First ballot line as a result of his outreach to independent and Republican voters.

The 119th Assembly District includes the cities of Utica and Rome, as well as the towns of Floyd, Marcy, Deerfield, and Whitestown. It is currently represented by Democrat Marianne Buttenschon, who is retiring this year after four terms in office.

Just left the Santa Rosalia Feast in Utica. Good to see such a great crowd this year and to see so many friends. And good to hear so many people greet me with, “I know you! You knocked on my door!”

And I won a prize in the raffle! What a night!

This evening I was down by Johnson Park in Utica to check out the Back to School BBQ for the kids in the neighborhood. Thank you to the good folks who run the youth programming at Johnson Park Center & local volunteers for cooking dinner for the kids and providing 100 backpacks & school supplies to give away!

They run after-school programming for dozens of kids practically every day, giving them a safe place to do their homework, play, or just hang out until their parents get home from work. Thank you for all the services they provide to the community!
