Welcome Back! Week 1 (Aug. 10 - 15)

Dear UHS Students and Families,

Over the past several weeks, our dedicated teachers, staff, and administration have been hard at work getting our campus ready, refining our lessons, and building an environment where every student can thrive. We have put immense energy, heart, and preparation into making this school year our best one yet.

Now, the only missing piece is you.

We warmly invite and welcome our students, parents, and community members to partner with us as we launch our vision for this school year: "Generating Excellence Together." True excellence isn't something that happens in isolation—it is built when we set high goals, support one another, and work as a unified Coyote family. When school staff, students, and families collaborate, there is no limit to what our students can achieve.

🚗 Traffic, Drop-Off & Student Parking Procedures
To ensure a smooth and safe flow of traffic during drop-off and pick-up, please follow our campus traffic routes:

9th & 10th Grade Drop-Off / Pick-Up: The designated area is the loop on the south side of the school near the cafeteria.

11th & 12th Grade Drop-Off / Pick-Up: The designated area is the loop by the gymnasium (which is also our student parking lot).

Pedestrian Safety: Please remain extra vigilant, drive slowly, and watch for pedestrians at all times as you navigate through these drop-off and pick-up zones.

Student Parking Permits: Student drivers must make all parking arrangements with Mrs. Castro in the Main Office after school hours by the end of this week. Please note that student parking permits will be strictly enforced starting Monday, August 17th.

📱 Schedule Access, Devices & First Day Expectations
Please note that no paper copies of schedules will be provided this year. All students are expected to access their schedule digitally through their Student Skyward Account.

Re-Check Your Schedule: Please log in and review your schedule again prior to the first day, as schedule changes may have occurred while our administrative team worked on leveling classes.

9th Grade iPad Pickup: Any 9th graders who did not get a chance to collect their iPad during Fish Camp or schedule distribution should stop by the technology office with Ms. Juarez (located right by the library) to pick up their device.

1st Period Schedule Check: During 1st Period on the first day, teachers will walk every student through logging into Skyward to ensure everyone knows where they are supposed to be throughout the day.

Be Prepared: If you do not have your school-issued iPad yet, please be prepared to write down your schedule on paper. You may briefly turn on your cell phone during 1st Period only to view Skyward and copy your schedule down.

Cell Phone Policy: Once your schedule is written down, cell phones must be powered off and placed out of sight in backpacks for the rest of the school day, adhering to our campus expectations.

📋 Important First Day Procedures
3rd Period Count: To ensure every student is accounted for, we will perform our official First Day Count during 3rd Period. Students will remain in their 3rd Period classroom until official clearance is announced, after which we will resume our regular bell schedule.

Lunch Schedules: Lunch periods are assigned based on each student’s 5th Period teacher. Staff will help students confirm their correct lunch schedule during the morning. Also please see the attached bell schedule for lunch period times.

Student Expectations: Teachers will review key sections of the Student Code of Conduct throughout the day so everyone understands our campus safety guidelines and academic expectations.
