CALLING ALL WILDLIFE LOVERS!!!

This morning we had the pleasure of getting this little guy out of a chimney clean-out!
After digging soot out to find what we were told was an owl, it turned out to be specifically a screech owl! What we believe to be a western however he is covered in soot and could definitely be an eastern, but who’s keeping track, they’re all cute!
A screech owl is a smaller species of owl native to North America and parts of Central America!
Not too common to see due to their amazing camouflage, small size, and on top of that they’re strictly nocturnal!

With a quick look over the owl, things are off to a good start! However, this tiny friend is still being admitted to tufts wildlife in Grafton to be certain that no injuries have occurred!

Happy New Years Everyone!

We are kicking off an Instagram account to start the new year! This account will be giving everyone a chance to get a closer look into what we have going on in the world of Animal Control, both in and out of the shelter, and yes... even our adoptable animals!

This is our attempt to access our younger generation...

FOUND DOG IN DOUGLAS!!!

Last Wednesday, September 25th, this sweet male doodle was turned into Dog Orphans in Douglas MA. Dog Orphans posted the pup as a found dog. Blackstone Regional Animal Shelter took custody of this sweet boy. The party turning the pup in reported to have found the dog on the Trunk Line Trail. The dog was found wearing a collar with the name "Doodle" on it and a phone number listed. Multiple voicemail have been left without a return call. Missing dog pages in both Mass and CT monitored without success.

If you own this dog or know the owner, please contact Blackstone Valley Animal Control at 508-883-BVAC (2822), and give us some information on this sweet boy. We understand sometimes rehoming is necessary, but let's not delete the past, and give some history to ensure a successful future.

All unclaimed strays are held 10 days, then evaluated, vetted, and placed up for adoption. If a surrender is signed, history can be obtained, and the process speedlined.

Officer Seamus McDoodle has passed his Canine Good Citizen Test!!!!!

A huge shout out to Jenn Davitt of Infinite Pawz-ibilities for all of her with work with Seamus these past 9 months.

Seamus is prepping for his Public Access Test and his Therapy Dog Test in the next few weeks.

Let's help Lollipop find her furrrever home!!!!

This sweet girl deserves the BEST HOME EVER!!!

Let's help Lollipop find her furrrever home!!!

Lollipop is a 6yo English Bulldog, she is spayed, up to date on vaccines, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases, and microchipped.

Lollipop came into our care a couple months ago when her family separated and she needed a new home. Lollipop needed vetting, had skin issues, and her eye needed addressing. We started treatment and it was time to find her furrrever home.

Lollipop while in her new home had exceptional vet care, skin started looking amazing, and her eye was all cleared up. Lollipop liked to bully her two housemates, never biting, but wanted to be in charge. This past week, her brother (Mastiff Mix) decided he didn't like being Bullied, and Lollipop was chewed up pretty good. Lollipops adopters called and asked us to take her back.

We spent the night at Tufts with this pretty girl, she was admitted, and after a lot more vetcare she was released to heal up at the shelter.

Lollipop is on antibiotics and pain meds for 10 days while she is healing. This also runs parallel with the state Rabies protocol for her quarantine. After 10 days are up, as long as Lollipop is feeling 100%, we are going to be seeking a furrrever home in a Bulldog experienced home as an ONLY dog.

Lollipop is deaf, she was working with a trainer and remote collar with her adoptive family, and she was thriving.

Note: grooming is so very important. It's even more important to ensure they have a great experience as you are building the foundation to a lifetime of grooming. Finding yourself an incredible groomer to build this foundation with is important and we are so lucky to have so many wonderful groomers in our area. Seamus has his next groom booked in 8 weeks and we were educated on his maintenance plan leading up to his next groom.
