Happy National Dog Day, Taylor!

Taylor may not be ready to respond to a fire just yet, but she has an important job of her own. As our therapy dog, Taylor helps support the mental health and wellness of our firefighters, department members, and community.

When she’s off duty, you can usually find her looking for snacks or making the rounds for some extra attention.

Tails of Taylor the fire dog.

When the chief is away, the dogs will play. As the fire chief is away on vacation this week, Taylor seems to have made herself at home in his office.

She wasted no time settling into the big chair, checking emails, reviewing department business, and apparently doing a little online shopping on the side.

Taylor, the Vacaville Fire Department’s therapy dog, had a very important assignment this morning…helping welcome students to Orchard Elementary for their first day of school!
There were plenty of smiles, hugs, and of course, lots of pets as Taylor greeted students on their way to class. We loved being part of the excitement and helping start the new school year on a positive note.
From Taylor and all of us at Vacaville Fire, have a safe, fun, and amazing school year!

This morning we joined the festivities at Creative Arts Solano for the first annual school supply give away where 1700 backpacks were handed out! The Vacaville City Firefighters Charity Fund made a generous donation to the cause and we were happy to support it.

We had a great time yesterday at the Annual Children's Party at the Vacaville Museum. It was so much fun meeting all the amazing kids, seeing so many smiling faces, and, of course, taking another picture with Stanley the donkey. Thanks to everyone who came out and made it such a wonderful day!

We’d like to congratulate Frank Lee on his recent promotion to engineer! Frank is a lifelong resident of Vacaville. Engineer Lee came to us from Cal Fire where he served before joining us in 2019 as a standout member of the “9 of clubs” academy. Engineer Lee is currently assigned to station 71.
