Congratulations are in order for a few of our members.

We recently had one firefighter graduate from a blended BEFO class, and last night three more members completed their BEFO class.

BEFO is one of the first big steps in firefighter training, covering the basics of exterior firefighting operations and helping prepare members for the fireground. It takes time, commitment, and a willingness to give up evenings and weekends, which is apparently something our members keep agreeing to do...

We’re proud of all of them for putting in the work and continuing to better themselves and the department.

April 18 from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Valatie Fire Department.

Bring the kids down to check out the trucks, take some photos, and see what being a firefighter is all about. We’ll also have food, music, and some activities for the younger visitors.

The Valatie Fire Department is now accepting applications for junior members starting at 14 years old.

No, they won’t be running into burning buildings with us. Junior members take part in community events, help around the firehouse, and begin learning through training drills and hands-on experience alongside our members.

We opened this opportunity to younger members because the future of the volunteer fire service depends on the next generation stepping up and getting involved early. It gives them a chance to learn responsibility, teamwork, and what it means to serve their community.

If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a junior member, reach out to us or stop by the firehouse for more information.
