Close Before You Doze! 🔥

A recent fire incident in Manitowoc serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of this simple yet life-saving practice. Closing your bedroom doors at night can significantly slow the spread of fire and smoke, giving you precious extra time to escape.

Let’s stay safe and spread the word! 🛑🚪✨

Motorcycle Crash Investigation

On May 9, 2026, at approximately 11:43 p.m., deputies with the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the intersection of County Road J and Roselawn Road in the Town of Liberty for a reported single motorcycle crash with injuries.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that a motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Roselawn Road when the operator failed to stop for the stop sign at County Road J and continued through the intersection. After clearing the intersection, the motorcycle entered the ditch, struck a sign and a field access, resulting in the operator being ejected from the motorcycle.

The operator, a 54-year-old Town of Liberty man, was operating a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The operator was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and sustained possible life-threatening injuries.

Valders Ambulance responded to the scene. The operator was later airlifted by ThedaStar to Theda Clark Medical Center for treatment.

We would like to thank Valders Ambulance, Valders Fire Department, Theda Star, and HI-WAY 42 Garage for their assistance on this incident.

The Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office would like to remind all motorcycle operators and passengers to wear appropriate safety equipment, including helmets, eye protection, protective clothing, gloves, and proper footwear whenever riding. Taking these precautions can significantly reduce the severity of injuries in the event of a crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office.

The Valders Fire Department is proud to announce the successful refurbishment of our 1998 water tender, a vital apparatus in our fleet that plays a key role in fire suppression and water supply operations. This project ensures the continued reliability and effectiveness of the vehicle for years to come, allowing us to better serve and protect our community.

The refurbishment work was completed by AH Stock Manufacturing Corporation, located in Newton, Wisconsin. Their expertise, craftsmanship, and attention to detail have restored the water tender to excellent operating condition while incorporating necessary updates to enhance performance and safety.

We extend our sincere appreciation to AH Stock Manufacturing Corporation for their outstanding work and commitment to quality. We would also like to thank our Truck Committee for their time, effort, and dedication throughout this project, led by Captain Ben Behnke, whose leadership helped guide the refurbishment process from start to finish.

This investment reflects our ongoing dedication to maintaining dependable equipment, being fiscally responsible, and providing the highest level of service to the Valders community.

Please exercise extra caution over the next two days within the Village of Valders, as the village-wide rummage sales are taking place.

While in town, don’t forget to swing by Cenex gas station for delicious brat fry’s both days!

Happy hunting and stay safe!
