Applications Now Open for the
 Fall 2026 Citizens Academy
Join Burke County this fall for the 2026 Citizens Academy—a free, seven-week program designed to give residents an inside look at how county government serves our community.
Participants will explore county departments and services through interactive presentations, facility tours, and conversations with county leaders. This small-group experience offers a unique opportunity to ask questions, learn how local government operates, and gain a better understanding of the services that support Burke County every day.
The program will be held on Thursday evenings, September 10 through October 15, 2026, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Sessions will rotate among county facilities each week, and dinner will be provided.
Participation is free, but registration is limited to the first 20 adults (ages 18 and older) on a first-come, first-served basis.
