Please be aware that Galena Street will be closed from Faith Harbor Fellowship to Valdez Brewing starting at 5PM tonight (Friday). While Tatitlek Ave and Egan Dr remain open, the area is heavily congested with vendor vehicles and parked vehicles.

We asked our Gen Z staff if Valdez water is bussin' or disgustin' 💧

The verdict? BUSSIN'.

(Yeah... we had to Google that, too!)

Why?
• In 2025, Valdez's three water systems collectively produced more than 667 million gallons of drinking water for our community.
• All tested contaminants were well below federal and state drinking water standards. For example, nitrate levels measured just 0.811 mg/L, far below the federal limit of 10 mg/L.
• Testing found no detectable radium or alpha emitters in the drinking water.
• Lead levels remained below EPA action levels, and the report notes Valdez has not found lead or galvanized service lines requiring replacement so far.

📬The 2025 Drinking Water Quality Reports hit mailboxes this past week, so be sure to grab yours, give it a read, and learn more about the water flowing from your tap every day.

It's almost party time! 🥳🎉🪅
The Public Works crew is hard at work getting the City of Valdez, Alaska - Government primed and ready for this week's big 125th Birthday Celebration weekend! Today, our crew prepared the ground at City Hall for Friday's Community Time Capsule Burial. We used the Vactor truck & 906 loader (and some good 'ole elbow grease) to dig the hole that will hold the Time Capsule for the next 75 years!!

If you have an item you think is worthy of the Community Time Capsule, fill out the online entry form today by 5PM for consideration! Then come join us on Friday at noon (City Hall) for the burial.

🚧 Please Excuse Our (Eventual) Dust... and Delayed Timeline! 🚧

Due to unforeseen material and contractor delays, the start of the Meals Avenue & Robe River Drive Repaving Project has been pushed back to June 15.

We apologize for the delay—and for sharing construction dates that ultimately changed. We were excited to get this project underway and appreciate your patience as we work through circumstances beyond our control.

Residents can expect to begin seeing some project activity late next week, with construction officially starting on June 15 along the first section of Robe River Drive.

Thank you for your understanding as we work to improve this important piece of community infrastructure. We are committed to keeping residents informed throughout the project and will continue to provide regular updates as construction progresses. If the timeline changes again before June 15, we will let you know!
