Lowndes County Fire Rescue brought home 3rd place overall at the 2026 Georgia Firefighter Competition yesterday during the 2026 Georgia Fire Service Conference in Augusta!

Our team put their training, strength, teamwork and skills to the test in events including Barrel Roll, Dress ’n’ Sq**rt, Tight Squeeze (One into Two), Busted Hose Replacement and the Mystery Event.

Competing against firefighters from across Georgia, our crew gave it their all and showed exactly what teamwork and training can accomplish.

Congratulations to our team on an outstanding performance! Way to represent LCFR and Lowndes County! 🚒💪🔥

We are excited to announce that we've been awarded a grant of more than $32,000 from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation!

The grant will allow us to purchase new Hurst Jaws of Life spreaders, cutters, and accessories, strengthening our emergency response capabilities and enhancing firefighter safety during vehicle extrication and other time-critical rescue operations.

These modern tools will provide our firefighters with greater cutting and spreading capabilities, helping us reach patients more quickly when every second matters.

We are grateful to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for investing in the equipment and resources our firefighters need to serve the Lowndes County community.

Named in honor of one of Georgia's most respected leaders in fire investigation, the Jim Swindell Scholarship recognizes a commitment to professional development and excellence in the fire investigation field. Receiving this scholarship is a reflection of Deputy Chief Maskule's dedication to advancing his knowledge and continuing to serve the residents of Lowndes County with the highest level of professionalism.

🚶‍♀️🚴 Be on the lookout for pedestrians and share the roadway with bikers
⛔🚌 NEVER pass a bus from behind, or that is stopped, not to mention it's illegal in all 50 states.
⏰ 🗓️ Practice your patience and plan ahead for potential delays on your commute.

Station 10 wants to make sure you and your family have a working smoke alarm. Now is the perfect time to take a few seconds to test your alarms and make sure they are ready.

✅ Press the test button to make sure your alarm sounds.
✅ Replace batteries if needed.
✅ Make sure you have smoke alarms on every level of your home and outside sleeping areas.

A working smoke alarm can provide the early warning needed to get out safely.

Lowndes County Fire Rescue recently held its annual banquet to recognize the dedicated men and women who proudly serve our community every day. The event provided an opportunity to celebrate the commitment, hard work, and dedication of our firefighters while honoring those who have gone above and beyond throughout the year. Award recipients were selected by their leadership, recognizing their outstanding service, professionalism, and the respect they have earned from those they serve alongside.
