The faculty and staff of NMS are dedicated to the task of meeting the needs of all children through the use of a learning-focused curriculum approach. Therefore, the following statements summarize the basic purpose of our program:

The faculty and staff believe that every child has a right to develop all of his/her potential to the fullest so that he/she may become a useful citizen of our country. The school assumes the responsibility of providing opportunities for the intellectual, social, and emotional development of all students. The school provides a curriculum to help children cope with their rapidly changing world. The curriculum includes every area of instruction: academic and explorative. It also provides for growth to meet the students’ daily and future needs. The faculty and staff assume responsibility for providing experiences to help the students realize and understand the changes in themselves and to make the best decisions for themselves. The school realizes that this is a period of transition, and it must assist the students’ growth from a dependent child to an independent individual. This allows more flexibility in scheduling and makes maximum use of the teachers’ strengths. There is more personal student-staff interaction and stricter supervision. The administrators and curriculum staff work together to create a total school program. NMS recognizes that the community should be involved in planning and providing resources and support to the school program. Students in any educational setting deserve a school climate and organizational structure that demands a high degree of order, structure, unity, and dedication to uninterrupted instruction and learning. With these thoughts in mind, NMS dedicates itself to providing a school environment that is well organized, quiet, structured, and as accommodating to high degrees of student learning as possible. Our school’s dedication to these principles are modeled through our everyday actions and demands such as our morning, hallway, and lunchroom protocols and are expected to be demonstrated, in kind, by our teachers’ consistent, everyday demonstrations of well managed classrooms, courteous and professional behavior, and an absolute dedication towards improving student learning for every student in our classrooms.
