We are proud to announce that we have received our updated rating from the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal, and we are pleased to share that our department will maintain a Class 4 insurance rating! Even more exciting, this rating will now apply district wide. We will no longer have a split rating because every property within our district is located within five miles of a fire station.

Achieving a district-wide Class 4 rating is a significant accomplishment and the result of 5–10 years of hard work and continued improvement. This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment of all our members, along with the outstanding leadership and support of our Board and officers.

The new district-wide rating takes effect December 1. We encourage everyone in our district to contact their homeowner's insurance provider after that date to make sure you are receiving the appropriate credit for the Class 4 rating.

Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard over the years to help us reach this milestone. We are proud of what we've accomplished and even prouder to serve our community!

North Brook had a busy evening responding to two incidents just hours apart.

At 7:07 p.m., crews were dispatched to a three-vehicle motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Lackey Road and Highway 27. Highway 27 was temporarily shut down while emergency personnel worked the scene. We appreciate the hard work of Lincoln County Emergency Services in providing patient care and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office for assisting with traffic control.

At 9:07 p.m., crews were dispatched to a structure fire involving a non-dwelling/outbuilding. We’d like to thank Howard's Creek Fire Department and Union Volunteer Fire Department Vale for their assistance and teamwork on the scene

As a reminder: Please slow down, use caution, and be patient when approaching emergency scenes. Every road closure and/or traffic detour is put in place to help protect first responders, those involved, and the traveling public.

🔥 Crews Battle Outbuilding Fire on Peeler Road in Lincoln County

Sunday, June 28, 2026, 9:10 pm.

VALE, N.C. — Several Lincoln County fire departments are responding to a fire involving an outbuilding in the 2400 block of Peeler Road, in the North Brook community of northwestern Lincoln County.

The North Brook Fire, Union and Howards Creek volunteer fire departments were dispatched after multiple callers reported a building on fire, according to emergency radio traffic monitored by CCNW. Crews reported an active, working fire as the first units arrived.

Radio traffic indicated dispatchers fielded multiple 911 calls for the blaze and that firefighters were establishing operations at the scene. No request for additional mutual aid had been made as of the latest radio traffic.

The cause of the fire was not known, and information on any injuries or the extent of the damage was not immediately available.

🚨 Three-Vehicle Crash With Injuries Shuts Down Part Of Highway 27 In Lincoln County

Sunday, June 28, 2026

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — 7:15 p.m. —

Fire crews, EMS personnel and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol are responding to a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 27 and Lackey Road, per scanner traffic.

The department said the crash caused moderate damage and that crews were treating multiple patients at the scene. Two ambulances were requested when units first arrived, and a third was called in as more patients were assessed.

North Brook Fire Department asked drivers to avoid the area while crews continue working the scene.

Emergency radio traffic indicated fire, EMS and State Highway Patrol units were all dispatched to assist.

Burn Ban Lifted for Lincoln County

After consideration of recent rainfall, the Lincoln County Fire Marshal has made the decision to lift the burn ban of open burning within 100 feet of a structure effective 8:00 am Thursday May 7, 2026. This means that residents can once again engage in controlled outdoor burning activities.
Lincoln County wishes to remind residents to use extreme caution when conducting any outdoor burning activities. The County remains under Stage 2 Drought Conditions, and with warmer temperatures and increased grilling activity, fire safety should remain a top priority. We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to helping maintain a safe environment for our community.
