Malheur County Emergency Management - The Lytle fire in the area of Cow Hollow and Mitchell Butte road is mostly extinguished, and fire crews are mopping up hot spots. Residents may return to their homes. The fire threat has been eliminated.

Residents returning to the area should use caution as fire crews are over-hauling the burned areas and Idaho Power crews are replacing power poles and restoring power to the area.

Today, the Malheur County Court signed a Drought resolution for Malheur County. The County Emergency Manager filed that resolution with a formal letter to the Drought Readiness Counsel.

Drought is coming early for us this year, after not filing last year. Support your local farmers and ranchers that have to work overtime to get water where it needs to go.

🚒 Wildfire prevention work is underway in Malheur County

Owyhee Irrigation District is partnering with the U.S. Wildland Fire Service on a multi‑year wildfire risk reduction project supported by the Bureau of Land Management, with more than $1.3 million in combined BLM and local funding.

The effort focuses on areas from Adrian to the Snake River and includes:
• Strengthening fuel breaks along canal and desert access roads
• Improving emergency response access and water supply points for firefighters
• Managing invasive vegetation that fuels wildfires
• Outreach to local landowners on wildfire prevention and preparedness
This project runs through 2029 and is designed to help protect homes, farms, infrastructure, and communities across Malheur County.
