Kids’ books are stocked at Beydn’s Library in the main box. We’re out taking stock of repairs today. It’s a good week to come enjoy the park during school break.

Day Four of Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month 2014 and today we honor Beydn Swink who lost is battle to cancer in February 2014. As we share these stories with you, a common denominator that continues to keep show its ugly head.. "There is no treatment for what your child has" - There is no treatment because there is no research because there is no funding! Children strong and brave like Beydn should no be taken away from this world so early.

Beydn Swink was the ten year old big brother to two military households. He loved to swim, spend time at his grandparents' in North Carolina, have adventures with his Daddy, and worry about his six brothers and sisters. He really loved to read, mostly mythology and the Warrior cat series. He had big plans to travel and hike, sail and climb mountains. He hated math. He was beautiful and funny. Beydn was diagnosed with Tcell ALL on November 3, 2013. After less than four months, remission, and a second diagnosis of a rare invasive fungal infection he died on February 22. He is missed and loved, and his family started the For Beydn. Foundation to solve the fact that there was no treatment for the infection Beydn had.

We've raised $500 for Beydn's birthday book drive. Thanks to Usborne Books we'll be receiving $750 in books to split between Beydn's Library and to gift to kids in treatment for cancer.

Usborne will match half our donations after $250 raised. We've hit $100!

You guys, right before Beydn's first birthday in heaven my mama's friend, Dayna, posted about collecting hats for an organization to donate to kids in treatment. So, the littles had a good time picking out some hats to send. Through the magic of social media and networking Jay, Ellie's Hats' founder, offered to send a box of hats with us to CHOA when we went on Beydn's birthday. Since then we've seen that organization grow and do great things and we're grateful we can always count on Muffin & Jay. Thanks for all you do in every capacity.

To celebrate Beydn's 14th birthday, we are partnering with Usborne Books & More to do a book drive. Usborne will match every donation at 50% once we raise $250.

We are going to use the book drive to put new books in Beydn's Library and deliver to children fighting cancer.
