On August 25, we kicked off the school year with our annual Teacher Induction Orientation, welcoming our year-one and year-two teachers into the VCUSD family!

The VCUSD Teacher Induction is a state-approved program designed for first- and second-year teachers, offering a comprehensive two-year, job-embedded development experience. Participants engage in ongoing professional development closely tied to their classroom practice, allowing them to refine their teaching approaches to enhance student learning outcomes while working toward clearing their Preliminary California Teaching Credential.

Thinking about a career in teaching? VCUSD's Teacher Induction Program is here to help you grow, connect, and thrive from day one. Learn more and see if it's the right fit for you!

We just launched Views of VCUSD, our official photo gallery capturing the moments that bring our district to life. Get a look inside our classrooms, catch highlights from Expanded Learning programs, cheer on our sports teams, see our staff in action at professional development trainings, and view graduations and school celebrations — all in one place.

We've been having such a good time at August Summer Nights in downtown Vallejo all month long, and we’ll be back at it again tonight! It’s been our pleasure connecting with the community, from families asking about back-to-school to community members curious about careers with VCUSD; we've loved it all. From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., come find our table (corner of Georgia and Marin)! Whether you're thinking about enrolling, looking for your next job, or just want to say hi, we'd love to chat.

We took Responses from Rubén on the road — this time, to our Back-to-School celebration at Loma Vista Farm! Jasmine, a sixth grader from Patterson Elementary, joined us to ask Superintendent Rubén Aurelio some of the questions on our community’s mind, including school enrollment, class sizes, and the dual-language immersion program at Cave Language Academy.
This series is about creating more opportunities for open conversations, asking questions, and learning together as we move through the school year. We invite you to follow along, hear directly from district leadership, and submit the questions you’d like answered next.

Have a question for Superintendent Aurelio?
Visit vcusd.org/straight-from-the-ship to join the conversation or email [email protected].

Throughout the weekend, Kaiser Permanente and Solano Public Health provided free vaccinations to students who needed them to attend school. With support from our VCUSD teams, families also received outreach and continued follow-up to help students meet immunization requirements and return to the classroom.

We are grateful to our partners and staff for coming together to support the health and success of our students and families!

Even our four-legged family members want to make sure students get to school safely.

As we begin Week Two, students are becoming more comfortable with their routines, classrooms are finding their rhythm, and our teams continue working through the adjustments that come with a new school year.

Thank you to our families, employees, and loyal front-window friends for helping our students start each day ready to learn.

Let’s have a great week, VCUSD!
