🚒 **Serving Our Community Beyond the Firehouse!** ❤️

Yesterday, members of the Fairfield Professional Firefighters Association joined the Fairfield Police Officers Association at St. Mark’s Church for the annual **Back-to-School Resource Fair**, helping local families get ready for the school year.

Our members fired up the grills and cooked, wrapped, and handed out **more than 1,200 hot dogs** to families attending the event. We also brought plenty of fun for the kids with a **bubble party**!

We were honored to receive thanks from attending City Council members, school district representatives, and several council candidates for the work our members do to support the Fairfield community.

PRESS RELEASE addressing the growing workforce challenges affecting the Fairfield Fire Department alongside many other departments across California.

Firefighters are confronted with persistent staffing shortages, elevated rates of occupational cancer, and increasing workplace injuries resulting from the physically demanding and hazardous nature of our profession.

Information recently shared by KCRA regarding local public safety compensation amounts failed to disclose the overtime figures created by the challenges listed above. Salaries shared by KCRA represent thousands of additional work hours. Hours which our firefighters spend away from their families, committed to protecting the life and property of our citizens.

We share this information to ensure our local community receives fully transparent stories rather than cherry picked data points.
