On June 11, 2026, officers assigned to the Vallejo Police Department's Patrol Division and Problem-Oriented Policing (POP) Team were conducting security and extra patrols at Vallejo High School during a graduation ceremony.

During the event, officers observed an adult male displaying behaviors consistent with someone carrying a concealed firearm. Multiple officers independently observed a weighted L-shaped bulge beneath the suspect's clothing, which, based on their training and experience handling, carrying, and investigating fi****ms, appeared consistent with the shape and weight of a handgun. Officers also observed the suspect repeatedly adjusting the object, holding it against his body while walking, and checking it with his hand to ensure it remained concealed.

As the individual approached the graduation entrance, officers observed him become hesitant after noticing the event's security screening area and metal detectors. He then returned to a nearby vehicle, where officers later observed him place personal belongings inside before returning to the graduation ceremony.

Officers maintained surveillance throughout the event and continued their investigation after the ceremony. During this investigation, they detained the suspect and recovered a loaded firearm from a backpack found in the vehicle where the suspect had stored his belongings. The unregistered firearm was equipped with an extended magazine.

Officers conducted records checks on both the suspect and the firearm. The investigation revealed that the Antioch resident was not legally allowed to possess the handgun due to his age. Consequently, the suspect was arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail. The firearm was seized and entered into evidence.

This case highlights the importance of proactive policing, officer vigilance, and coordinated teamwork during large community events. Through careful observation, communication, and investigation, officers were able to identify suspicious behavior and safely recover a loaded firearm during a crowded public event.

On June 1, 2026, at approximately 2:09 a.m., officers assigned to the Vallejo Police Department Patrol Division located a white Ford Edge near Tennessee Street and Mare Island Way. Officers conducted a records check on the vehicle's license plate and discovered it had been reported stolen in Vallejo and was assigned to a Ford Explorer.

Based on the circumstances, officers conducted a high-risk felony traffic stop and safely detained the vehicle's occupants without incident.

During the investigation, officers conducted a records check of the vehicle's identification number and discovered the Ford Edge itself had also been reported stolen in Vallejo.

The driver told officers she had purchased the vehicle earlier that day for approximately $2,500. However, when officers contacted the registered owner of the vehicle, he reported the vehicle stolen and stated he did not know the driver. The driver was unable to provide proof of purchase for the vehicle.

During an inventory search of the vehicle, officers found a loaded, unserialized firearm inside a bag on the front passenger floorboard. A records check revealed that the passenger was a convicted felon due to domestic violence, possession of stolen property, and vehicle theft, making him prohibited from possessing fi****ms.

During the investigation, both the driver and passenger denied knowledge of the firearm. Based on the totality of the circumstances and evidence recovered, the driver was arrested for possession of the stolen vehicle, and the passenger was arrested for firearm-related offenses.

Both the driver and passenger were booked into the Solano County Jail.

The stolen vehicle was removed from the stolen vehicle system, returned to its rightful owner, and the license plate was entered into evidence.

This case highlights how proactive patrol enforcement and thorough investigations continue to help officers recover stolen property, remove illegal fi****ms from the community, and hold offenders accountable.

Vehicle thefts continue to occur throughout California and across the Bay Area. While no prevention method is guaranteed, taking a few simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a victim.

The Vallejo Police Department encourages community members to consider the following vehicle theft prevention tips:

• Always lock your vehicle, even when parked in your driveway.

• Take your keys and key fob with you. Never leave them inside your vehicle.

• Do not leave your vehicle running unattended.

• Remove valuables from plain view, including purses, wallets, backpacks, electronics, packages, and fi****ms.

• Close all windows and sunroofs before leaving your vehicle.

• Park in well-lit and highly visible areas, preferably near cameras, whenever possible.

• Consider using a steering wheel lock, GPS tracking device, or other anti-theft device.

• If possible, avoid renting vehicles with out-of-state license plates, as they may draw additional attention from thieves who associate them with travelers.

• If your vehicle is equipped with a push-button start system, consider storing your key fob away from doors and windows inside your home and using a signal-blocking pouch when not in use.

• Keep vehicle registration, insurance documents, and other personal information secured and out of plain view.

• Report suspicious activity to law enforcement promptly. If a crime is occurring or there is an immediate threat to public safety, call 911.

By taking a few extra moments to secure your vehicle, you can help reduce opportunities for theft and improve public safety throughout Vallejo.

On June 1, 2026, at approximately 1:32 a.m., officers assigned to the Vallejo Police Department Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop near Tennessee Street and Amador Street after observing a black Kia SUV with unlawful window tint.

When officers contacted the driver, they immediately detected the strong odor of freshly burned ma*****na emitting from the vehicle and observed a cigar on the passenger seat that appeared to contain ma*****na. Based on these observations, officers detained the driver and escorted him from the vehicle.

As officers prepared to conduct a pat-down search, the driver admitted he was carrying a concealed firearm in his waistband. Officers recovered a loaded firearm concealed on the driver's person.

A records check revealed the driver, a Pinole resident, had prior felony convictions for robbery and evading law enforcement. As a convicted felon, he was prohibited from possessing fi****ms or ammunition. The investigation also revealed the firearm was registered to another individual.

The driver was arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail on firearm-related charges. The vehicle was towed from the scene, and the firearm was seized as evidence.

This case highlights how proactive patrol enforcement and officer vigilance continue to remove illegally possessed fi****ms from Vallejo streets and enhance public safety.
