Today, Rincon Fire Department personnel took UTV181 into the backcountry for off-road driver training, focusing on navigating challenging terrain and trail systems.

Regular training on rough and technical terrain ensures our crews remain proficient in safely operating specialized equipment in the environments where it’s needed most. Whether responding to medical emergencies, wildland fires, search and rescue incidents, or remote access calls, maintaining these skills helps us provide rapid and effective service to our community.

Continuous training, realistic scenarios, and teamwork keep us ready for whatever the next call may bring.

At approximately 10:40 a.m., Rincon Fire Department’s REMs Team responded to a reported horseback riding accident in the Hellhole Canyon area.

Due to the remote location and challenging terrain, our REMs personnel with the support of and accessed the patient, provided medical care, and coordinated a safe rescue from the backcountry. Thanks to the teamwork and dedication of everyone involved, the patient was safely extricated and transferred for further medical evaluation.

Incidents like this highlight the importance of specialized rescue capabilities and the commitment of our personnel to providing emergency care wherever it is needed.

We wish the patient a full and speedy recovery.

On the Morning of July 9th, crews responded to a reported structure fire at a local Jilbertos Mexican restaurant. Firefighters quickly arrived on scene, worked to contain the fire, and prevented it from spreading to nearby businesses and structures.

Thanks to the rapid response and coordinated efforts of all personnel on scene, the fire was brought under control and extinguished safely. No firefighter injuries were reported.

Thank you to our crews and our partner agencies for their professionalism and teamwork throughout the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

13 years ago today, 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting the community of Yarnell during the Yarnell Hill Fire.

Their courage, selflessness, and commitment to serving others continue to inspire firefighters across Arizona and beyond. While the years pass, their legacy never fades.

Today, we pause to remember their lives, honor their sacrifice, and keep their families, friends, and fellow firefighters in our thoughts.

Gone, but never forgotten.

Two people were rescued from a steep mountain side in Valley Center on Sunday night after an ATV went off a cliff, with one person airlifted for medical treatment and the other taken down the mountain to a waiting ambulance.
