On August 21st at 745 and 8 pm, two vehicles suffered damages from water balloons that were thrown from another moving vehicle near 69th and Meridian. The suspects are in their teens to early 20's and driving a white late 80's to early 90's Chevy or GMC truck. It is thought to be a single cab version. The passenger was wearing a ball cap. If anyone witnessed these events or has information about possible suspects, please call 316-755-7325 to speak with Captain Vogt or email [email protected].

The situation in the 1300 block of South Meridian has been resolved and there is a 53-year-old man in custody. We would like to thank the citizens for their cooperation in the area and for the various law enforcement agencies that assisted bringing this situation to a peaceful resolution. Agencies that assisted were the Kansas Highway Patrol, Park City Police, Kechi Police, Maize Police, Bel Aire Police, Sedgwick County Sheriff, and Wichita Police Department.

🚒 Community Town Hall Meeting – Your Voice Matters

The Valley Center City Council invites all residents to attend a Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, July 29, at 7:00 p.m. at LeVenue, 109 W. Main Street.

This meeting is an opportunity for the community to learn more about an important decision that will impact the future of fire protection in Valley Center and will affect local taxpayers.
City leaders will present information, including service options and associated costs, as the City Council considers whether to continue investing in and strengthening Valley Center's own Fire Department or transition fire services to Sedgwick County Fire District 1. Representatives from Sedgwick County Fire District 1 will also be attending to answer questions.

🚦 Speed Limit Changes Now in Effect in Valley Center 🚦

The City of Valley Center would like to inform motorists that several speed limit changes have recently gone into effect. New speed limit signs have been installed, and we encourage everyone to take a few moments to familiarize themselves with these updates. There will be a couple additional signs placed once locates have been completed.

New Speed Limits:

📍 Seneca Street

From Ford Street to 5th Street – 30 MPH

📍 East 5th Street

From the 700 block of East 5th Street to the 2400 block of East 5th Street – 30 MPH
From the 2400 block of East 5th Street to Broadway – 40 MPH

📍 East Ford Street

From the 600 block of East Ford Street to the 1700 block of East Ford Street – 30 MPH
From the 1700 block of East Ford Street to Broadway – 40 MPH

These changes were made to improve traffic safety and better reflect the development and traffic patterns in these areas.

Please watch for the new signs, adjust your speed accordingly, and help us keep our streets safe for everyone.

⚠️ Please be advised that AT&T crews will be working in the residential area near Wheatland Elementary and the Intermediate School over the next week. Residents may notice an increased presence of workers and utility vehicles in the area during this time. ⚠️
