When young people experience the death of a peer or someone in their community, it can bring up overwhelming emotions, questions, fear, sadness, anger or anxiety. Every child responds differently, and there is no “right” way to grieve.

As parents and caring adults, one of the most important things we can do is create space for conversation, reassurance and connection. Check in often, listen more than you speak and remind your child they are not alone.

Here are ways you can support your child:
💙 Talk openly and honestly at an age-appropriate level
💙 Keep routines as consistent as possible
💙 Encourage healthy coping and connection
💙 Reach out for additional support when needed

Please remember: it is okay to ask for help, and support matters for both youth and adults
