The City of Valley Falls has issued a Solicitor’s Permit to Watson Pest Control of Topeka, Kansas, for the following dates:

📅 September 3, 4 & 5, 2026

Representatives from Watson Pest Control will be going door-to-door within the City of Valley Falls during these dates.

The permit has been approved by the City; however, residents are not obligated to speak with or purchase services from any solicitor.

The Valley Falls Police Department is accepting applications for one Full-Time Police Officer position in Valley Falls, Kansas.

💰 Pay: $22.00–$25.00 per hour

We’re looking for a motivated, dependable individual who wants to serve our community and make a difference. Previous law enforcement experience is preferred but not required, and candidates must possess or be able to obtain Kansas police officer certification.

Minimum requirements include:
• At least 21 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
• No Brady/Giglio violations or KSCPOST sanctions or disqualifications

🎉 Great News for Valley Falls! 🎉

The City of Valley Falls has been awarded $586,000 through the State of Kansas Transportation Alternatives Program!

This funding will support important pedestrian and accessibility improvements in our community, including:

♿ Replacing and improving sidewalks throughout our downtown business district to make them ADA-compliant and more accessible for everyone.

🚸 Improving the school crosswalk at Oak Street and K-16 Highway to enhance safety for our students, families, and pedestrians.

This is a significant investment in the future of Valley Falls and will help make our downtown safer, more accessible, and welcoming for residents, businesses, and visitors.

We are grateful to the State of Kansas and the Kansas Department of Transportation for investing in our community.

More information about the project and construction timeline will be shared as plans are finalized.

🚧 Park Restrooms Temporarily Closed 🚧

The City of Valley Falls would like to inform the public that the restrooms at the city park are currently out of order due to maintenance issues.

For the safety of the public and to prevent further damage, the restroom doors will be locked until repairs can be completed.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to restore the facilities as quickly as possible. We will provide an update as soon as the restrooms are back in service.

🚧 Utility Locate Flags & Paint – Please Leave Them in Place 🚧

As part of the Giant Fiber Project currently underway in the City of Valley Falls, Dig Safe crews are marking underground utility lines with paint and flags throughout the community.

If you notice paint or utility flags in your yard or along your property, please do not remove them until the work in your area has been completed. Removing the markings may require the utility locating company to return and remark the property, which can delay the project.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as this important infrastructure project moves forward.
