📚 Reading at Home Makes a Difference! 📚

Reading with your child is an essential part of their overall growth and development—from Pre-K through 5th grade! Whether you read aloud together, listen to your child read, or discuss a favorite story, every minute helps build important literacy skills and a lifelong love of reading.

For students in 3rd–5th grade, reading for just 20 minutes each day can expose them to approximately 1.8 million words during a single school year! This daily habit can:

📖 Dramatically expand vocabulary
📈 Improve academic performance and test scores
💪 Build reading stamina
💡 Strengthen comprehension and confidence

We encourage every VME family to make reading part of your daily routine. Just 20 minutes a day can make a lasting difference!

🌺 Our Big Kahuna Fundraiser Has Begun! 🌺

We are so excited to kick off our Big Kahuna Fundraiser! This fundraiser gives so much back to VME and helps us provide special experiences for our students, including Field Day bounce houses, student rewards, incentives, celebrations, and treats throughout the school year! 💚💛

We would greatly appreciate your support if you are able to participate. Every sale helps us continue doing extra special things for our Eagles! 🦅

🎟️ Prize Reminder:
After students make sales, please send their signed tickets with them to school each morning. Students will be able to turn in their tickets and pick up their prizes in the gym!

💚💛 Happy First Day of School, Eagles! 🦅📚

We are SO glad to have our students back at Valley Mills Elementary! Our classrooms and hallways are once again filled with smiling faces, excitement, and lots of Eagle pride.

We are looking forward to an incredible new school year filled with learning, growing, making memories, and soaring together!
