VSFD would like to thank the guys from Amberview farms (Paul Sittig & Carter Bork) for the use of your equipment & your time helping us and Brandon volunteer fire department with the grass/field fire this afternoon. Also thank you to Matt Dawley, Troy Dawley for your tractor/disc, John Erickson with your tractor/disc & Blake Nelson with the road grader.

With everyone's quick response we were able to get a handle on the fire quickly and get it under control. Thank You!!!

VSFD had the opportunity today to attend and mass extrication/school bus accident training today in Brandon, with Brandon Fire Dept. & Split Rock Fire Dept & Medstar ambulance. It was an amazing training event and exciting to train with two of our mutual aid fire departments! Huge thanks to Brandon volunteer fire department for hosting and inviting us!

It's that time of year again! Our annual pork supper fundraiser & raffle/silent auction is on September 20th. Proceeds this year will be used to finish outfitting the new truck with gear and equipment!

We have received some smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors from a local retailer to give away to members of our community! We have two boxes with several styles available! They have changed suppliers that they get them from and these were what they had left! They are free to anyone in the community first come first serve! VSFD meets 2 Mondays a month, the first Monday for our business meeting, and the third Monday for training. Tonight's training was extrication! Shout out to James with Herman Motor Company & Nordstroms Auto Recycling for donating a couple of cars for us to practice with. Also huge thank you to VSFD Firefighter/EMT Mark Rollinger for refreshing us tonight!!

This year for our Annual Fundraiser we have added some new VSFD merch and a new way to get it! Our friend Nick Hanten with J&H Screen Printing helped us out with a website to view and order all of your VSFD merch!

If you order before September 6th you will be able to pick it up at the Annual Pork Supper on September 20th (post coming soon with info for pork supper).

Yesterday, Gov. Larry Rhoden ordered that flags statewide be flown at half-staff from sunrise until sunset on Sunday in honor of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day.

Today marks 10 years since we lost one of our own in the line of duty. A day that changed our department and hearts forever.
To honor his legacy, we placed this plaque on our engine truck and decal on our grass rig. A constant reminder that he rides with us still. Every call, we answer, every life we protect, we carry his spirit with us. 
Though time has passed, the memory of Steve remains as strong as ever. A friend, fellow firefighter and a true embodiment of selfless service. 🚒
