The cause of the fire was determined to be a riding mower. CALFIRE cited the homeowner.

Forward progress of the fire was stopped at approximately 46.3 acres. Near Highway 26 and Shelly Rd in Linden (San Joaquin County)

Firefighters responded this evening to a residential structure fire with a person trapped inside on Pastorello Court in the Rancho Calaveras subdivision of Valley Springs.

Firefighters arrived and reported a fire on the porch and inside the Laundry room of the home.

Firefighters rescued an adult female in a wheelchair. She was treated for minor smoke inhalation.

Additionally, several cats and dogs, along with some baby chickens found in a cardboard box, were rescued and brought outside to safety.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the laundry room inside the home and the outside porch.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Kudos to the neighbor who used a garden hose on the porch before the firefighters arrived!

Firefighters from Calaveras Consolidated and CalFire responded this afternoon to a vegetation fire off of Sonny Lane in Valley Springs.

The slow-moving fire was contained by firefighters to approximately 1/4 of an acre and was determined to have spread from a burn pile.

The property owner was at the site when the fire escaped. Today was a permissible burn day, but a reminder for all: one spark can spread a fire.
