Students in Mr. Wong’s middle school art class at Memorial Junior High School are putting a creative twist on technology and art through pixel art! Using a computer program, students designed pixel images of their favorite characters and objects before bringing their creations to life on paper. The project combined digital design, creativity, and artistic skill to create some awesome finished pieces. We love seeing our students turn small pixels into big creativity!

Last month, Girls Inc. from Valley Stream South joined fellow Girls Inc. groups from across the district for a visit to the PSEG Line Worker Academy. As part of the organization's ongoing career exploration initiatives, students gained insight into the essential work required to keep power flowing to homes and businesses across Long Island. They had the opportunity to speak with groundworkers, customer service representatives, overhead workers, and other professionals in the field. PSEG also provided lunch for the group. This interactive experience left the students with a deeper appreciation for the vital roles these workers play, especially after hearing directly from women working in the industry.

This past Memorial Day weekend, several Central students and staff proudly honored the graduates of the school who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the United States during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Their bravery, service, and dedication will never be forgotten.

A special thank you to Chris Critchley for organizing this meaningful event alongside Mayor Ed Fare and State Assemblywoman Judy Griffin.

Central would also like to give a huge shoutout to Franco Visone and our Central students for their hard work setting up the flags in front of the school as a tribute to our fallen heroes.
