I enjoyed a lunch time visit at FLUID Coffee Roasters - Valpo South with Mrvan for Congress campaign manager Shannon Sankey. We spent some time discussing the unfortunate drop of Indiana's ranking to 49th place in American states for voter turnout in 2022. On a positive note, I shared with Shannon the high school voter registration drive is getting organized by my fellow League of Women Voters of Porter County members and I will be visiting several Porter County high schools to assist with the voter registration efforts. I also shared that I recently learned AARP Indiana subsidized four Indiana municipalities who waived transit fares on election day 2023. No loss of revenue to the municipality. Encouraging people to get out and vote! I have asked the Valpo transit director to look into whether AARP is continuing the program in 2024 and whether our municipality would qualify for the program.

This Thursday night, from 5-6 pm, we will gather outside the School Administration Building at 3801 N. Campbell St. before the 6:00 school board meeting for a peaceful rally. We encourage people to bring their personal signs to show displays of affirmation and safety that we want to see in our schools!
Local groups will be speaking during the public comments section. We also want to show support and solidarity with any current students, recent graduates, or faculty of VHS who choose to come and speak at the meeting regarding the removal of messages that display affirmation and inclusion, which send the wrong message to our youth. We understand there can be concerns around safety with making a public statement, so if you would like to have a statement read anonymously on your behalf, please message on social media or email LGBTQ Outreach of Porter County at [email protected] by Wednesday at 8pm and indicate “from a VHS student or staff.”

I attended the Lowell Veteran’s Day program this morning! Congressman Mrvan addressed all who gathered to pay respects to those who served our country and sacrificed for the common good. Such a lovely morning!

Ok, it’s crunch time Valpo. Please exercise this most precious right and VOTE either today, tomorrow Monday or Election Day, November 7! If I can get Sasha to wear this scarf, I hope my canvassing, campaigning and Facebook posts & videos have demonstrated I can deliver balanced local government, city government transparency and most important to lead by supporting issues relevant to all of us!

Thank you, Indivisible NWI for this endorsement and all the important work you do for our community! 🇺🇸

4 years later, Matt Murphy refused to even discuss my Community Safety Resolution that would keep guns out of our kids hands. It’s time to put our children first. Its time to put our safety first. It’s time to put Valpo first. 💚

Hey Voters! Don’t forget! If you are voting straight ticket, you still need to separately vote for TWO at-large candidates!

I am honored to receive an endorsement from State Senator Rodney Pol Jr.. Thank you!

October 22, 2023

I am endorsing Barbara Domer for Valparaiso City Council in District 3. Barbara is a Democrat, a longtime resident of Valparaiso, an accountant and member of the League of Women Voters of Porter County.

I first heard about Barbara’s advocacy when she spoke at the public hearing held jointly by the Indiana Senate Elections and the House Elections and Apportionment committees. She spoke as a concerned Hoosier in support of the work of the Indiana Citizens Redistricting Commission. She stated the following to the commission:
• Hoosiers expect elected officials to serve the values and interests of all Hoosiers.
• Hoosiers need to know our vote will count in electing representatives who represent all Hoosiers.
• Hoosiers deserve a fair and transparent redistricting process.

Her statements align with my belief that balanced government serves citizens best and long-standing supermajorities are unhealthy for communities.

When the Valparaiso city district maps were being drawn, Barbara kept a keen eye on the process and raised concerns about the selection of the consultant and the lack of transparency in the selection process. A public forum was organized by Barbara and the League of Women Voters of Porter County to raise awareness of the redistricting process and its impact at all levels of government.

I am confident Barbara will deliver balance, accountability, fiscal responsibility, checks and balances and government transparency as a city council member.

I hope on November 7, voters in Valparaiso’s District 3 vote for Barbara Domer for City Council.

Senator Rodney Pol

Re-elect Diana Reed for District 1, a balanced leader and community advocate who will prioritize needs over wants. Diana is a 38 year District 1 resident, educator, and union leader at the local and state level. She is a champion for housing that is sustainable, attainable, and equitable and advocates for the improvement of sidewalks that are walkable and roads that are drivable. Community safety, transparency, and infrastructure are top priorities.

Re-elect Diana Reed - Valparaiso City Council, District 1 for Balanced Leadership

Our city government should look like the population they are representing. 52% of the Valparaiso population is female. Vote for Barbara Domer and you can count on balanced representation, diverse leadership and a commitment to hear every voice! (not just the wealthy, well connected and loud ones)

Vote Democrat. Elect Barbara Domer to Valparaiso Council District 3
