It was my honor and privilege to lecture on the state and federal constitutions and swear in the elected 2022 Governor of Hoosier Boys State at Trine University in Angola yesterday. Congratulations, David Lee, and your incoming class of future Hoosier leaders! I wish all of you a unique experience in state and local government this week. Thank you to the American Legion for hosting such a memorable event!

PLEASE BEWARE: Courts will NEVER conduct business with you via telephone. Courts will ALWAYS use the U.S. Mail to contact you for any official business.

We have again been receiving reports that citizens have been getting telephone calls in which people were fraudulently claiming to be Law Enforcement Officials recently. Sometimes callers can mask the caller ID information to make it appear as if the call is coming from a police department or other government entity.

If you receive a call from a person claiming to be one of our Officers and are concerned they are not who they say they are, please hang up and call 219-477-3000 to verify their identity.

If you receive a call from a person claiming to be an Officer with another agency and are suspicious, please hang up and call that agency directly to verify their identity.

Our Officers would never call you demanding your social security number, date of birth, bank account information, or telling you to pay a fee to avoid an arrest.

Porter County Government Updates Masking Policy For County Owned Buildings

The Porter County Board of Commissioners have announced an updated Masking Policy for all county owned buildings, effective August 31, 2021.

Anytime that Porter County is designated at COVID ADVISORY Level Orange or Red by the Indiana State Department Of Health Color Map, all visitors MUST wear masks at all times during their visits.

In addition, employees are required to wear masks in all common areas of their respective building. Each Department Head or Officeholder may determine whether masks are required to be worn within their office space(s). Any employee who has interactions with the public and cannot distance at least three feet away from the visitor must wear a mask UNLESS there is a protective barrier between them.

ISDH updates the COVID Advisory Level once week on Wednesdays at approximately 11:00 AM CST. The map can be found at: https://www.coronavirus.in.gov/2393.htm Click on Porter County on the map and choose “Advisory Level” in the map filter drop down menu.

Should Porter County be designated as COVID ADVISORY RED by the Indiana State Department of Health Website, ADDITIONAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS may be implemented.
