Captain Jason M. Dahl - Flight 93 National Memorial (U.S. National Park Service)

As we prepare to mark the 20th Anniversary of the 9/11 Attacks, we should remember that the victims were people just like us. They had families, friends, interests, and passions. For the pilots they loved flying. One of them, Flight 93 Captain Jason Dahl began his flying career as a Civil Air Patrol Cadet at the age of 13. Let us never forget them.

United Airlines Captain Jason M. Dahl rearranged his September 11 flight schedule so he could take his wife to London for their upcoming fifth wedding anniversary. When he boarded Flight 93 that morning he carried with him, as always, a small box of rocks, a long-ago gift from his son. After 16 year...

Congratulations to C/Capt Tyler Bacztub for graduating from Air Force Specialized Undergraduate pilot training at Laughlin Air Force Base in Texas.

Every year about 30 Civil Air Patrol cadets participate in a one-week familiarization course based on the full 52-week Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training class that is completed by the Air Force's newest active duty officers. They flew in either a T-6 Texan or T-1 Jayhawk, received a tour of a F15E, academics that included aerospace physiology, simulators, and demonstrations from security forces.
We love when our cadets get to travel and explore all that CAP can offer them.

Today we enter phase III.

We have been fortunate throughout this pandemic to maintain our membership numbers and have 12 cadets and 4 seniors join this year already!
We know how important retention of our membership is and the continued support we have received from the community.
We are grateful to be one of the few units with their own meeting space. This past year we did not get to do our usual community service that assist with our rent for our space. Thank you to a donation from Valparaiso Noon Kiwanis Club we were able to pay our rent for the year. Thank you to Porter County Regional Airport Authority for the permission to upgrade our space.
We would not have been able to do that upgrade without the labor donated by our cadets and seniors. We want to thank SM Sterling and family for the donation of the flooring of our main room and a second room used for the seniors in addition to a laptop. We also want to thank Capt Howard and family for the donation of paint and supplies. You can tell from the before and after pictures that a lot of hard work was put in so we can have a spa e to be proud of.
Last but not least, through a partnership with SGT Jongsma Indiana National Guard Recruiter we were gifted with a sizable banner so that visitors can identify our space and we can help better promote our squadron at the airport.
We are so thankful to our members and the community for the way we have been supported through this unusual time.

This past meeting was character development on perseverance. Each flight of cadets were given a bag of random items and had to make something that embodied the idea of perseverance. The results were interesting!

We also had C/Major Kori Howard come to do her Eaker speech along with a presentation of her experience and what to expect in AFROTC and in the major of Aeronautical Engineering Technology.
